Amazing work! I hope I can produce some results like this in the near future. Thanks for sharing!

Well done Jim! Do you use a chamfered board inside the cover for pressing the thicker paper or same card stock? Thanks for sharing bud!

I don't press with the chamfered board inside, I use it to repair spine ticks only. I just use my normal "sandwich" for thicker cardstock.

I've got several 9.8 graded books. #1 the Savage Sword of Conan 1970. Couple of Conan books with nude covers. Stopped collecting books. Have all the old savage sword books. I died last August from a swollen heart. Two months later I woke from life support and realized none of this stuff matters. Not sure if anything matters anymore. I'll probably hang on to what I have but won't be collecting anything else. I don't see replies. If collecting books makes you happy then more power to you. Living your life the best you can is the right way to live. If collecting books makes you happy then that's all that matters.

I fully agree with you that the book was probably a 9.8 before your work. Truthfully that might have been a 9.9 after your cleaning and spine work. I literally didn't see any flaws after your second round of repairs. Great Job!!!

I brought a 9.8 a few years ago of this & love it. Will never sell it as i am a massive G.I Joe fan

Congrats Jim on the grade bump. Totally worth your time and effort. Albeit 5 minutes give or take of clean up and the pressing. I have a couple of those G.I. Joe ARAH number 1's myself. I love the Transformers content, but I remember asking you awhile back if you would be doing any Joe's, and you definitely did not disappoint. I by no means have a complete run of either series, but I have quite a few issues. Especially early in the run. I have doubles and triples of some of my favorite issues. I remember going into my LCS in my late teens and picking up several Transformers back issues. After 1-4, all the Transformers were $1.00 back then. One day afternoon I picked up like issue #5-#20 for a dollar a pop. I was like a kid in a candy store.

Nice to hear from you! I remember seeing literally hundreds of the early transformers back issues in long boxes for cheap back in the day. I wish I had bought crates of those books (or had the money to do so). Have a good week, my friend!

Jim do you ever do anything to the covers after cleaning them with erasers? I've noticed a few people say they get books back from cgc with restored or whatever due to cleaning. I've noticed that if I look at it under the light I can see where the eraser has cleaned the book. I've also noticed that if I use a makeup pad it can clean those markings up have you have you ever done that? Have you seen this problem in books coming back from cgc?

I always wipe down books thoroughly after cleaning, and then again just before shipping for good measure

Really nice book there! Did you hit the spine with a repress or just with an iron? Just wondering and it didn’t mention…. Thanks for a great video!

This video is the perfect example to ask a question that I had on a previous video. This GI Joe has a thin black line running down the ridge of the spine from top to bottom. If a few spine ticks show a tiny bit of white right on that black ridge, but are pressed out of the covers, showing NO color breaking ticks on the top cover or bottom cover... will that affect your grade?

Yes, but not much.. it depends on the number and how far they extend into the book
