There is something about a recipe that withstands the test of time, passed down from generation to generation. I have been making this bread since I was but a wee lassie with blonde braids and no idea how to double recipes. But the genius of this particular bread is extremely versatile and you can double or triple at will. Add any seasonings or add ins that you so wish.
Recipe
2 cups of warm water
2Tablespoons of Instant yeast
1/2 cup of sugar or honey
2 eggs
1 Tablespoon of salt
1/4 cup of vegetable oil
5-6 1/2 cups of flour (I like to do half whole wheat half white flour)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Dissolve yeast in water and let it get bubbly. Add remaining ingredients, mixing well after each addition. Knead for approx. 10 minutes. Cover and let rise for 10-15 minutes. Divide dough evenly. Form loaves and put them in greased bread pans. Cover, and let rise until double ( approx 30-45 minutes) Put in oven and bake for 20-25 minutes.
Remove when done. Cool. Slice and enjoy! :)
