Mr AR Rahman's compositions can be roughly divided into 2 periods. From 1992 to early 2000s-this period is fondly referred to as Retro Rahman .Then onwards,he began to lean towards World Music genre. The difference is obvious. For me,the Retro Rahman period lives in glory within my heart

I've never understood the term "world music". Right from his debut, his compositions have incorporated elements of music from all over the world. So how is that different from his "lean towards world music genre"? Just to clarify, I'm not being snarky here. Just trying to understand what you mean.

@@vinithradhakrishnan8969 of course, from the food you eat to the clothes you are wearing, there are elements from other parts of the world.Even professional singers agree that Mr AR Rahman's earlier compositions differ from the current ones.I did not create the term "World Music".It supposedly means compositions done to appeal to wider international audience. If you listen carefully to Mr Rahman's earlier hits, they appeal exclusively to Tamil speaking audience and simply magnificent because afterall I am a Tamil.I did not say that his leanings towards World Music is bad.Never.I am simply being mesmerised by his earlier hits.Really, there is simply nothing to argue about. If you wish to misconstrue my intention,go ahead.I don't give a d_ _ n

His music has always comfortably straddled many corners of the world in the same piece, right from the start. In my view, it’s unfair to segregate his continuously stellar work in boxes. It’s what he stands for, his music stands for--uniting than dividing…

Thanks for putting up part of my comment up there. I don't think there is another song in Tamil music similar to Thee Thee. It is probably the only one of its kind. Not sure how many of Rahman's compositions you've listened to but check out The Mastering Project channel. He has about 170 songs with high quality audio.
