As a former member of the LGBTQIA+ community, it's refreshing to these types of conversations based in love and desire for a mutual respect and understanding. For those in the comments wondering why pronouns are part of hospitality, I say please please know that this is no an attempt to normalize pronouns. As a person seeking to be an example of Christ, we have to know and educate ourselves on these things so that we can approach those who are queer with love. Many times, this world we live in is so strict with what it means/looks like to be a man or woman that those stereotypes push us towards questioning our sexuality and genders. I'd encourage you to do your research! Also, Jackie Hill Perry has an EXCELLENT testimony as a formerly lesbian woman who is now an apologist for "cultural topics"

Another incredible podcast. Thank you both for this wonderful conversation. A friend and I were just last night talking about how we can't talk about the kinds of things discussed here - our concerns about the increase in rush transitions without reasonable due diligence, about the sudden wave of "rapid onset" dysphoria, and so much more. And here you two are addressing those things and so much more. Thank you Preston as always for taking on the complex topics in such a kind and thoughtful way. Thank you Julia for stepping head first into not only a difficult conversation, but into a conversation that impacts you directly. Sharing your story and perspective will make a huge difference. I am so grateful for what you are doing to help those on both sides of the conversation grow in understanding of each other.

Julia, I am a straight white woman. I am uncomfortable at church because of the pious attitudes. Jesus loves you!!!! Jesus is not how churches are. When we look at Jesus in the Bible, he was rejected by the religious people in his day, they had him crucified! So, just know, Jesus is in love with you just as you are!

I appreciate your comment about accepting versus promoting. It is hard to accept without strengthening all those who are promoting. I also appreciate your struggle with your faith in God and what he says in his word. God is patient and he will pursue you with his love, no matter what decisions you have made in your life. Many Christians are coming to realize it is the sin beneath the sin that is the issue. Whether my sin is greed or homosexuality or lying, it is the insistence on being my own savior that keeps me from allowing Jesus to be my Savior. He is the only One who teaches us what is right and what is wrong. And he is the One who saves us from our sin.

Aw man, Julia you are so deeply loved. If you lived in Calgary I would invite you to my church - you are welcome. Welcome at the foot of the cross, where we all land, at Jesus' feet, letting Him love us, grow us, heal us, redeem us, reveal us. Jesus wants a relationship with you, He wants to know you, so deeply and for you to know Him so deeply. It's so great you're in this open space of exploring and searching, keep seeking Him. The fathers heart for you is so vast. I'm sorry for the ways the church has hurt you, and countless others, and pushed them so far from the true heart of the father, the church has failed in many ways, failing to include love along with truth.... I see God at work in mighty ways in your life, not even sure if you'll read this but I see Him in your heart posture, in your desire to bring unity and not divide, in your desire to communicate and bring understanding...He is at work - whether you're going to a physical church or not, I pray you would seek out and read His word and pursue Him - share your heart with Him, He wants to share in your life, in all the ways. God Bless you.

I really appreciate the honesty in this conversation. Its powerful and really demonstrates resilience. I do have a big problem with some of the observations - never in my life have I heard, "shame can lead to narcissism". Sorry, but I find that is insane: shame (the kind felt by a detransitioner) leads to suicide!! Shame is profoundly powerful in terms of negative emotions. Narcissism, is negative BUT its not a negative emotion. This is grounded in character and is totally related to ones perspective of the world and essentially: selfishness. I want to be clear, I don't accept the idea of transgender when it comes to children or the need to transition but I respect certainly respect your right as an adult to do whatever you want to find calmness in your being. I just think non-gendered counselling would be the place to start. At the end of the day, how is any of this different to Anthony Loffredo, a 32-year-old Frenchman, or Vinny Ohh, a 23-year-old make-up artist in LA. Two individuals that want to become aliens. Why? Well that is because that is how they feel - that is their authentic self, their identity. Sadly, this seems like a life with little purpose or meaning

Hum, in my teens I distinctly remember thinking how much easier life is as a boy. The idea of giving birth and menstruation scared the hell out of me. That's said, I never dreamed nor thought changing sex was even something to considered - just the opposite. This was a sign of insanity. I guess my suggestion is Julia needed to watch more porn growing up

Why does every Preston Sprinkle message I watch have a 1 hour or more explanation of a simple concept? What would Jesus say? He'd say homosexuality is a sin. Trans is not in the Bible. Because IT DIDN'T EXIST in Biblical times. So, we are honest about it. Very simple. But we do need to love, as Jesus did. He called out sin as sin. Period. And He loved. Without agreeing with the choice. That is the crux of what we need to be telling people as CHRISTIANS. Not accepting. Not affirming. Truth. In love. Never compromise. Preston compromises. Period. God is not pleased with him.

@Preston, regarding being created in the image of God, this has always confused me, because we refer to God as a male, but God created male and female in His image...How can both a man and woman be made in the image of God when these are so essentially different? Would it be safe to say that God is both male and female? What if "God" is all things, and humankind being made in the image of God would necessitate variety, such that the image of God is present among us by way of us existing with our variation. Then we (humankind) as a whole, male and female, gay and straight, transexual or not, are all necessary components of humanity because together, not individually, we are God's image.

It is remarkable how individuals can fall into a self-absorbed, narcissistic sense of being. Really failing to find a sense of purpose in life or any real meaning to their existence. I have no idea how it happens but such is life. I watched a story of Stuart Wickison, a UK boy that had his life turned upside down by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Jonathan Pitre, a Canadian that lived with an excruciating skin condition (epidermolysis bullos). He died at the age of 17 but accomplished more for the betterment of humanity than most people do in their lifetime. Yet, here I am listening to Julia and I am supposed to feel something? Really there is nothing much different here than Anthony Loffredo, a 32-year-old Frenchman or Vinny Ohh, at 23-year-old make-up artist in LA. Two individuals that want to be special - they want to become aliens. Why? Well that is because that is how they feel - that is their authentic self, their identity. Honestly, its just such a waste, all rather narcissistic, all rather obscene and just a waste. Good luck to them because we live in parts of the world that value your individual rights. it just seems out of whack with with responsibilities that go with those rights. Julia is an adult and free to live however one feels, it just seems there are more important things in life than pretending, or if you like Butler " performing", as something you are not. For me its about the damage this causes for others that see this as "an answer" to their "problems".

Honestly > Authenticity Who we are is only as important as it is aligned with Christ. If your "true self" is going against the grain of creation and misaligned with Christ, then please consider Jesus: "Jesus replied, “Truly, truly, I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” John 3:3 BSB I appreciate his cordialness as a trans person, but the fundamental issue is that the data doesn't support affirmation as a solution to Gender Dysphoria, so why should anyone engage in pseudo-affirmations by using incorrect pronouns? I, as someone who cannot relate, desires to be as loving and considerate as I can without sacrificing even an inch of truth or objective reality.

Are you helping this person to come back to reality or just cheering them on? Men believing they are women is obviously a big delusion and it is getting worse as society tells them it is ok. No hate, but I don't know how to say it any other way..

I am curious why do you use language like that? Delusion? Why do you think "its" getting worse? And why are you concerned with other peoples bodies?
@theservant752
Жыл бұрын
@Cj Hunt I use the word delusion as it describes what I mean. A denying of reality, of what actually is true. In plain English you could call it a Lie.. Webster: DELUSION, noun S as z. 1. The act of deluding; deception; a misleading of the mind. We are all liable to the delusions of artifice. 2. False representation; illusion; error or mistake proceeding from false views. If you agree with other peoples delusions you are accepting lies as truth and this in the end makes things worse and prohibits correction towards the truth. In this case it will make a man believe he can be a woman, and this means this man will be living in delusion. It could be easily corrected by people letting him know this, as opposed to making it worse by acting along in his delusion. I don’t hate the guy, I’m just stating fact.

@@Jasminestealth1 Everyone has sinned ok. I’d rather tell the truth then partake in lying about it. As I said I don’t hate the guy and therefore I tell him the truth so that he can repent and step back in line with what is. Its not a good position to be in to be living like he is, it will always be like a splinter between him and God, cause he will doubt in his mind whether it is ok to live like that or not.

I enjoyed this interview very much. He certainly is a lovely person; well spoken, articulate, every word is measured and I would even say he has so much wisdom to share. I have to push back, though, and beg Preston to reconsider using preferred pronouns as a means of hospitality. Our words have the power to change reality. Postmodern theorists knew this. Foucault wrote a book called “Les Mots.” Literally translated to “The Words,” (although the official title in English is “The Order of Things”) Queer Theorists in particular know that if we change language, we change peoples perception of reality. They want a world where everything slips and slides, there are no norms, (including age of consent!), no order…everything “queered.” I don’t understand how we can shrug and say “It doesn’t really matter,” when the other side is using threats to force this upon others. THAT’S the tell. If words are truly inconsequential, they should be that for both sides of the discussion. Preston, please repent. And I mean this technically. Turn from this choice to affirm a delusion and use your words - which are so powerful! - to affirm truth. At the risk of sounding rude, but for lack of a better term, don’t be a useful idiot. Useful idiots move an ideology forward without realizing what they’re doing. Alexandra Solzhenitsyn said, “You can resolve to live your life with integrity. Let your credo be this: Let the lie come into the world, let it even triumph. But not through me.” And this has never been so relevant. God help us.

Appreciate your input and that you call Preston to repentance. Many other voices have also named Preston publicly and have asked him to repent. Sadly, I have heard him say on KZitem in so many words that he does not read the comments and isn’t necessarily open to critique. All I can conclude is that his arrogance prevents him from seeing the fallacy in the use of language that affirms falsehood. Pray for him.
