My Dad is a big Eric fan. Eric and John played Hitchin folk club several years ago. My Dad wanted to go,so me,my brother and our friend accompanied him, taking the piss all the way. To say we were blown away by Eric and John, would be an understatement. We’ve been fans since. John’s voice in this is soaring and beautiful . RIP big yin

Joyce Carol Vincent 19 October 1965 - December 2003 for three years she lay dead in her London flat surrounded by Christmas presents she'd bought for family and friends, her sisters lived only a few miles away. There must be a reason for it all.

I’m 21 and didn’t know many Eric songs at all until last week. Me and my cousin took my Nan to a concert and to say I was blown away was an understatement. I have listened to nearly every Eric Bogle album since then, and just hearing Eric talk about John makes my heart break watching videos like this. Eric is a legend

This is one of my favorite songs by Eric and one that always brings me to tears. And the countering of Eric's words by John are incredible in how they reflect so much of society.

RIP John.... I was so sad to hear of your loss last year. I always loved this song ever since I first bought the album way back when. There is so much meaning in those words. So poignant during COVID-19. Your voices Eric and Jonn are always magic to my ears.

First heard of Eric boggle when I worked in a pub where there was a sing song at the weekend in the seventies. He has enhanced my thoughts on life greatly and had a massive input into how I have lived it .met him at about a dozen concerts and thank GOD to Jim MC Mahon who sung no mans land that night and put me on the road to anti war. It achieves nothing. Sam Jeffrey

I clicked "Like" above, but it wasn't really true. No one with a heart could "like" this song, but was I moved by it? I was moved to tears, and I'm a tough old sailor who has knocked about and hardened his heart to much in 68 years of life.

#JonHolford I was looking, reading and listening to Eric Bogle and John., Rest his Soul. It's so hard to say I have a favourite among his songs, because they are all too important to link them in a list. I love them all and heed the words of them all. I read your post and hope you're still able to be moved to tears, don't be too tough as there's always room for life without knocks. Have a good weekend.

We have only pleaded guilty to converting Billy Connolly from Scotland and only Jimeon from Ireland and Parkinson of the Pomms but we traded him for Clive James😂 Eric is a welcome Scott but I guarantee he’s no more Australian than Dame Edna Everidge is British, But Clive James was gone a week and he was “cuppa tea my good man? “ Gone👉 Cancel he’s passport✈️we might have Ross Noble but it’s James acaster we have our eye on🥕😂🍺🇦🇺

I'm 43, I had Scraps of Paper when I was 8 years old. I'm not sure the lyrics bode well for a minor, especially for one already born 'down'. I still struggle like fuck with shit but, ah well, there's always Eric and John, they'll see me right... oh hang on, no....
