Dominique Keller is the Chief Veterinarian and Director of Animal Health and Wellness at the Los Angeles Zoo. She has been the AZA SSP two-toed sloth veterinary advisor since 2020. She has a PhD in veterinary physiology with a focus on assisted reproduction in endangered species and has been a diplomate of the American College of Zoological Medicine since 2014. She's assisted on ecology-related field work with two- and three-toed sloths in Costa Rica and with sloths in rehab care in Panama.
Peter M. DiGeronimo obtained his veterinary degree and certificate of veterinary public health from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. He worked in small animal and exotic companion animal practice for 5 years before completing a specialty internship in zoological medicine at Louisiana State University. In 2016, Pete completed a master's degree in wildlife and ecosystem health from the University of Edinburgh. He worked as a clinical instructor in the Exotic Companion Animal Medicine and Surgery Service at UPenn's veterinary school where he continues to serve as adjunct professor of zoological medicine. He became board-certified by the American College of Zoological Medicine in 2020 and was the veterinarian for Adventure Aquarium in Camden, NJ before taking his current position as an associate veterinarian at the Philadelphia Zoo. He is passionate about conservation medicine and has ongoing research projects on elephant clinical pathology, infectious diseases of turtle populations, and the health of free-ranging sharks and rays.
