You can now access the suspend menu with the latest firmware update V1.08.18. The ( - ) button is represented by Z + START. Now it's super easy to switch between games with just the N64 controller

Thank you for posting this helpful video. I just got this product and ironically it works perfectly with my 3rd party N64 controller from back in the day, but is NOT working with my original N64 Controller (the one that came with the N64 system), when trying it on my switch. For the 3rd party controller, was able to swap A and B buttons and D-Pad / joy stick using the instructions. However, with the original N64 Controller, I cannot get any response from the left stick AT ALL. The A and B buttons work, but the left stick does not (D-Pad does work). I know the controller works perfectly when plugged into the original N64, so not an issue with the controller itself. I've tried everything. Tried holding down "Start" and "A" many many times, but not working. Any idea how to fix this issue? 3rd Party controller is fine for now, but would love to use the original. I didn’t see a Firmware dedicated to this issue on Mayflash website but don’t think I could use firmware anyway as I don’t own a PC (just a mac). Thanks in advance for your help.

Unfortunately I can't help with this, sorry. I can't imagine why an otherwise functional official controller wouldn't work.

@@GreyVested Thanks for your reply. It really is baffling. I've written to MayFlash as well about the issue. I suppose for now I'll use the third party controller. As you mention in your video, this really is just a temporary solution until I can get my hands on the authentic N64 Switch controller when it eventually comes back in stock. Might try updating the firmware using a friend's PC to see if that does anything as well.

MayFlash ended up getting back to me and they sent me a firmware update (which at the time wasn't available on their website, not sure if that's changed). Since then my original N64 controller works great. I played all of Majora's Mask this way. Would still prefer the official ones, but until those become available this is a good substitute.

@@davidbuchwald6487 I’m playing majora and I can’t switch a and b because if I do that both can’t be pressed at the same time. Can you send a link to the update?

How does it map on Windows? D-pad and C are they recognized as buttons or point of hat / Z axis?
@GreyVested
11 ай бұрын
I fired up JoyToKey to see how it responded. The analog stick activates Stick1, and the D-pad activates POV, but unfortunately the C-buttons weren't recognized as anything, at least at first. The program seemed to recognize that a button was being pushed (i.e. it flashed that a "Joystick 1" had activated) , but it didn't signify any particular one in the button list. When I turned on "Show all axes" under Stick/POV in Options, it showed the C-buttons activated Axis5(0), Axis6(0). I don't usually go this far into making controllers work on PC so I'm not sure of the significance of this, sorry. Hopefully this helped.

@@GreyVested thank you. Recognizing d-pad or C-buttons as POV is a deal breaker. Older converters recognized all of them as buttons, which allowed more than one to be pressed simultaneously. You can also see how they respond using "set up USB game controllers" Windows app. Thank you for your help.

Hi, just ordered this today. I want to hook it up to my laptop and then laptop to big tv with hd cable. Would this run smoothly?
@GreyVested

Honestly that would likely depend on your laptop and whatever software you plan to use the controller with. I'd recommend trying to play something (with a keyboard) on your laptop through to your TV first to see how well it handles things.

i bought this adapter recently but i have latency on the z and start buttons, probably because of the shortcut feature to get the minus button. is there a way to disable that ? i'm not using the minus button at all, i just want to play with no latency.

For some reason, you also can't press A and B at the same time if you invert them with Start + d-pad right. I just sent an e-mail to their customer service (info@mayflash.com) reporting those issues. Hopefully they'll fix that soon.

@@retrofizz727 Well, I did get a reply yesterday. They confirmed the Start/Z issue was introduced because of the minus button support and suggested downgrading the firmware version. Their instructions are as follows: "Please downgrade the version to an older one, such as V1.08.16. Z button will work normally. How to downgrade? Press and hold the key SHIFT at keyboard to make the grey 'Update' become black 'Update' (Do not release SHIFT), then click the black 'Update'. Release SHIFT once the update is finished." Haven't tried that yet, but V1.08.18 supposedly fixes an "analog stick input lag issue," so it's pick your poison, I suppose.

@@fabricardoso87 yesss man sorry I forgot to tell you, I got an answer from them too a few days ago, and they also told me to downgrade to the old firmware, which I found weird because the old firmware made the stick not working, however I tried and it works perfectly fine now, no stick problem and no latency on the z button anymore ! You should do that too

is there any way to enter the menu that has the save state through the adapter?
@GreyVested

Unfortunately not -- like I stated in the video, the only way you can access save state options is by using a second controller with a Select/- button.
@diegomiler

@@GreyVested the problem with doing this is to keep synchronizing the controls every time you need to do this process, as a second control it doesn't access this menu, or is there some other way?
