@@BaronEvola123 As they were being filmed, they were being told to go as fast as they can. When placed in the jig, the chassis is just tack welded together, then it is passed onto another welder who welds all of the joins. I live in Uk and worked in a fabrication place and the same happened there. Some tack weld to join / position hte pieces and then welded by better welders who do nothing but full welding. The tack welders also ground down the welds. TRhat was a dirty and worse job as one day of it non stop, your hand and arm is still vibrating for 3 - 4 days after if new to it. The worker just misplaced the tack weld because of rushing.

All things considered, this is one of the better plants this and similar channels have shown. There were a few people with dust masks near the welders, some actual jigs, stands, hoists, and a little room to move about. It is more of an assembly facility than many of the forging and machining centers seen previously, so it is naturally a better environment, but at least some care is being taken somewhere. Still lots of bizarrely primitive parts, like the loose ball steering head bearings at 25:40. Good quality bearings are one of the things that have always limited technology, as Germany learned in WWII, and as the soviets learned in the cold war. Their missiles were horribly innacurate because the bearings in their gyros were of terrible quality.

@@rickgillis1613 Maybe do some research and find out what Polish partisans were doing during the war? Allied air-raid were generaly super inacurate->i almost was not born because of American bombers droping stuff on chemical plant in ocupied Poland and the load from bombers was often landing few kilometers awey from the plant... In the same time on the ground in Poland: Sabotage and diversionary actions of the Union of Armed Combat (ZWZ) and Home Army (AK) from 1 January 1941 to 30 June 1944 Action type Action totals Damaged locomotives 6,930 Delayed repairs to locomotives 803 Derailed transports 732 Transports set on fire 443 Damage to railway wagons 19,058 Blown up railway bridges 38 Disruptions to electricity supplies in the Warsaw grid 638 Army vehicles damaged or destroyed 4,326 Damaged aeroplanes 28 Fuel tanks destroyed 1,167 Fuel destroyed (in tonnes) 4,674 Blocked oil wells 5 Wagons of wood wool destroyed 150 Military stores burned down 130 Disruptions of production in factories 7 Built-in faults in parts for aircraft engines 4,710 Built-in faults into cannon muzzles 203 Built-in faults into artillery projectiles 92,000 Built-in faults into air traffic radio stations 107 Built-in faults into condensers 70,000 Built-in faults into (electro-industrial) lathes 1,700 Damage to important factory machinery 2,872 Various acts of sabotage performed 25,145 Planned assassinations of Germans 5,733 And that is only stuff that was documented and records of it survived the war and communists. After the war Stalin people were hunting AK and ZWZ soldiers like animals... and Churchill & Roosevelt sold them all to Stalin... and it was well known fact at that time what Stalin was doing to Polish soldiers and other uniform wearing Polish people in Katyń, Miednoje, Piatichatkach, Bykovni and other places where mass graves of Stalin victims were discovered. After the war Russians invented story that Russian winter stoped and destroyed German logistics and West was happy to repeat that lie and hide under the carpet all what was done by Polish people to stop Germany... When may 2, 1945 Polish soldiers were planting Polish flag at the Berlin Victory Column (Siegessäule) was there Hogan & his band right next to them?! And to this day atempts to hide truth under the carpet are common, for example movie "The Imitation Game" British made movie with completly fake story where 3 Polish matematicians that broke the Enigma machine code and made its replica are not even mentioned... and USA/Holywood awarded the movie with Oscar... For 20+ years all the truth about Enigma was covered until someone wrote a book about it! Huge part of British documents about Poland and Polish forces are to this day Top Secref, few years ago the "Top Secret" classification on them should be automaticaly made void -> but it was extended for another 75 years... So we do not gonn learn how Gen. Sikorski died-> he and the whole bunch of other very important Polish people died during take-off from British Gibraltar -> propably the one only case in history when decent size plane is crashing during take-off and every passenger on the plane dies but the pilot somehow surviving the accident.

Wow! The hammer and chisel at 26:16, you would think even this assembly line would have the proper tools to tighten those castelated nuts on the steering stem. Some rather untidy lumpy and porous welds too, that could easily be improved even on a production line. Nevertheless, a very interesting and enjoyable video. They remind me of the Vespa based trikes that my uncle in Italy used to drive. He would wind his way down the snaking hillside road from Sezze down to Latina in it to stock up on produce for his fruit and veg shop.

It appeared the majority of the welds were spot welds with limited penetration. Unless there was a lot more welding happening you didn't show us. Given the day in/out stresses these machines are likely to have placed on them I would think more attention would be given to the welds.
@hardbrocklife

I thought the same and looked at the same welds in this same locations multiple times from different shots as they progressed. Areas they had only shown as spot welds later had a full bead down the joint. They look to be just showing the placing and spot welding and cutting out of the full bead welds to remove excesses filming. Like when they moved to the station where they attached the square frame to the forward A shaped frame then looked back at spots they had already welded when they were featuring a part farther along, a previously spot welded part had a full bead.

Not sure if you actally watched all the video. The initial jig welding was for alignment only. The very dubious mig welding of all the seams was shown and the finished welds could be seen during most of the video. I suspect that there are local shops who spend their time welding these vehicles back together untill they rust to nothing.

I wouldn't mind a rickshaw in London. Economical to run, maintain and buy. All the power you need as basic transport for 3 people and driver. Put small diesel engine in it of 500cc for example that will do over 100mpg in town. It makes sense and look how expensive a small car is even Dacia. We don't have reliant anymore which lasted . I had one and could drive it with a motorcycle licence. Really good and simple tech It's sad they're no longer made.
