Nice review! Personally I ended up selling this set. From a technical point of view (putting Lego bricks together in a nice way) it is excellent. However in my opinion it lacks quite a lot of "soul". The Downtown Diner gives me a great 1950s vibe. Other classics like Pet Shop, Fire Brigade, Detective´s Office, Parisian Restaurant, Assembly Square and Brick Bank gives me very good 1930-1950 vibes. I even find myself pretending to be on the streets of these places in a real world. The Museum unfortunately never had the ability to trigger my imagination in the same way.

Thanks! I totally get where you're coming from. Sets like the Downtown Diner and Parisian Restaurant really capture a strong sense of time and place. The Museum does feel a bit more neutral in comparison and doesn’t evoke that same nostalgic atmosphere. Hopefully, future sets will bring back that charm! I'm really excited about this year's modular release!

Massive Greek columns reaching to or near the roof line are in keeping with a number of major real-world museums, so it makes sense for Lego to have done that here. And after building a modular and putting it on display, it's the facade the counts, not any internals that are covered and forgotten. That's why to me this seems relatively boring: just a big box in essence. It's only the rather French-looking roof that saves it.

Those two oscars, aren't they just fancy bookstands? Honestly, I was a bit underwhelmed. They could do more with a museum. It seems a little bit rushed compared to some other modular buildings, especially if you take the price/number of parts in account.
@lukasthebuilder

I appreciate your keen observation! The two Oscars could indeed be seen as elegant bookstands, although personally, they strongly evoke the image of the prestigious Oscars. Your perspective on the museum feeling a bit rushed and comparing its value to other modular buildings is valid. Everyone has different expectations and preferences when it comes to LEGO sets. I am just beginning to appreciate the Jazz Club now.

I think the pediment goes to the roof to slightly resemble the facade of the British museum in London or the metropolitan museum of art in New York city.
@lukasthebuilder

If that's the case, I believe adding another set of columns would give it a more squared appearance, ensuring better proportions.

I find this modular to be a tad boring, even with the additional elements, at least compared to recent modular releases. I note you mention the lack of step free access to the building. My partner uses a wheelchair, so if a Lego building lacks such access, I always add my own ramp to make it accessible.
@lukasthebuilder

I appreciate your perspective on the modular set, and your solution to add a ramp for accessibility is a thoughtful and creative way to address the design limitation. It's important to consider inclusivity in Lego creations, and your approach enhances the overall experience of the set.

No comment on the missing handrail on the rooftop? Looks super dangerous to walk there, especially all the way to the telescope. I plan to arrange a scene where the museum director hangs on the edge because he slipped. :D Overall, this modular went into my personal Top 3 - I really like it, despite some design flaws.

Oh, you've got a sharp eye! The missing handrail on the rooftop is indeed a design quirk, and your scene idea sounds like an adventurous twist! Safety first, even in the brick world - I might need to have a word with the LEGO architects about rooftop precautions! 😄

I like this set quite a lot, though it’s not perfect. The color palette will force me to begin a second block to separate this building from the sand green of the Parisian.

I'm glad to hear that you like the set! It's understandable that the color palette may pose a challenge in terms of integration with existing buildings.
