In regards to your rant on the Dust Embargo, even without going into Volume 7, the idea was that, with Atlas's own troops turning on people, the fear was that Vacuo, Vale, and/or Mistral would retaliate and attack Atlas back, since Cinder made the entire thing look like Atlas was planning to start shit from the beginning.

This isn’t about volume 4 but the show in general I feel like team rwby isn’t really a necessary part of the story anymore. Like out of the main little group the only people who seem like they’re actually important or should be on this quest are ruby jaune ozpin/Oscar and crow maybe the other characters should either just be written out of the story that way we can focus on those four and actually care about someone or actually give the wby part of the show a good reason to be on the quest other the. “Ozpin says Salem is evil”.

Eh, it's basically a video fawning over volumes 1-3 as if they have no flaws and railing against the later volumes as if they have no improvements, which is ultimately fairly useless in terms of critique. Whatever you may think, it is a hate bandwagon as some people seem happy to claim how bad they think the show is, but can never seem to muster the self-control to simply stop and move on to something else if it truly was that bad - a basic principle of media consumption. Otherwise, the video doesn't really provide any unique or useful insight - only regurgitates arguments had many times before. Edit: Also, Jesus the nitpicks and bad-faith are awful. Critique is more than just occasionally throwing out literary words and phrases you know.

what in the video would you consider to be a nitpick? just curious

@@lelzer_ Nitpick many not be the right word, as that implies the writers made a mistake, but Pyrrha's video and the footprint of the Nuckelavee are two very good examples. It's not important to see more than one footprint and many shows will, in fact, only show one footprint of their "monster" on purpose. Trying to highlight something like that, even if you try to pass it off as "just a joke" is very much looking for things to complain about. On Pyrrha's video - why do we need to know when she made it and so on? What part actually serves to help further the story? Keep in mind it's important to give side-characters the ability to go off and do things independently of the screen and RWBY had already been criticized by people for giving side characters "too much screentime". Giving her the agency to go off and make something like that shows both her good qualities and the acknowledgement that she can't always be around to help train Jaune - even before her death. It's not meant to be a massive thing, but something small, and the story ultimately benefits from that.

@@Pizza23333 the footprint - i spent a whopping 4-5 seconds on that point, dismissed it and moved on the video - something serving the story isn't an excuse for it not making sense these were small things that i mentioned briefly and then moved on

@@lelzer_ Right, but why was the footprint important enough to bring up in the first place? What is actually accomplished by making it an issue? You can justify a single footprint in "logical" ways however to please without the story outright needing to explain it to you. The problem you're not understanding is that critiques need focus and while you may think these points are small that's why I called them nitpicks in the first place - they're minute details that don't really help anyone. Get enough of them and they start to pile up. You might say it was only a few seconds - but that only shows it wasn't really worth bringing up in the first place, which make it more of a "gotcha" point.

@Jock Duff you keep saying "critique" it's not a critique. it's not supposed to be methodical or focused. it's just me yelling about how the writing doesn't make sense. i'm aware the footprint and the video are minor things that don't warrant much time, but i mentioned them because i thought they were weird. i'm not a critic, i never claimed to be
