These letters were written by my Dad and Mom to each other while he was in boot camp from April to October 1957.These letters show how deeply two people can love one another even from a distance. My Mom was pregnant with my oldest brother, David. She mentions several times that she knows that it was to be a boy. Mom always knew.
All of these letters gush with syrupy sweetness. Sweaty (Dad) and pregnant (Mom), they wrote the most precious expressions of love and wanting so, so much to be together again, own a home and raise children. If we could rekindle this type of love in all marriages, there would be an end to divorce.
My parents are my heroes. They began their marriage with all of the typical difficulties. Through the years, they encountered tragedy, great loss, heartaches and enjoyed many adventures with their four children. In the end, what kept them together through 61 years of marriage, was the deepest love I have ever witnessed.
