This may not be as perfect as it can be but I personally appreciate the time you spent doing this considering you don’t find a whole lot of remembrance or credit to these originals who shaped today’s pop music and made classics still somewhat relevant today

Synthpop didn't lose out to grunge, it was the progenitor to house, techno and trance music in the 1990's, melding with the Chicago style which started in the early 1980's. Grunge fans came from metal, industrial, alt rock and thrash.

Too foreign or underground i bet. The uploader has also stated he had limited knowledge about electronic music & has acknowledged that there were missing details in this presentation. not everything has to be somekind of perfect comprehensive guide yk. though i do agree that YMO were also an important musical figure for the development of electropop.

JMJ & Vangelis + his collab with Jon Anderson are indeed synthpop. TD & Klaus Schulze in other hand, made music using synthesizers yes but i would not consider it "pop" since they never made music that had lyrics or a catchy hook. most of it were long and instrumental. They belong in the Electronica or Ambient category. I also think their works were intended to be used as soundtracks for clubs, local events & public establishments rather than the radio.

Your focus was primarily on New Wave, and you did a great job there, but the synth, Moge, Vocoder by Kraftwerk was actually far more monumental in influencing electro funk, Detroit Techno, House, Trance, Acid Jazz, House, Thecno-hop, Miami Bass and influenced far more of these artist and producers then new wave artist, such as, Jaun Atkins, Hashim, Newcleus, Egyptian Lover, Paul Hardcastle, Herbie Hancock, Jon Robie, Author Baker, Afrika Bambatta, Man Parrish, Soul Sonic Force, Pretty Tony Butler, George Krantz, Art of Noise, M.A.R.R.S., Unknow DJ, Jonzun Crew, Mega Zulu Kings, Maggatron, Cybotron, Dynamix II, Debbonaire, Daft Punk, Apex Twins, Darude, Dead Mou5, Chemical Brothers etc. .... You know stuff...I need your help if you don't mind. I'd like you to best classify the genre of this song: soundcloud.com/user-413867431/sugar-rush/s-Q1rZSd55IwM Right now I have it as "bedroompop" (which it is in theory) but technically, I think it might be closer to House music. But I know it's *not* House, hence why I'm stuck. Watching this video, it could be Synthpop, but it doesn't feel like it is. It was directly influenced by Kraftwerk, William Orbit and Mirwais Ahmadzai and created primarily using a Mogue simulator vst.

Luxury Gap was the best musical discovery i did awhile ago & still remains as one of my favorite pop musical project of theirs mostly for the relevant themes and because soul music is another personal favorite genre of mine. the addition of funk + jazz + disco into their synth sound are also bonus points as well 😁

Simple answer(s): 1. I was 15/16, not nearly as educated in music as I am now and I’m still not all-knowing as many these comments want me to be lmao 2. I was on a time constraints for a Video Production class in high school. I had a life my guy, I couldn’t devote 110% of my time to this when I had to balance both work, school, and friendships and 3. There’s a reason I put “short” in the title. I knew even all those years ago that I missed a lot in this video and I’m MORE than aware now. So yeah, there you go.
