How to shoot an interview with just ONE camera - Being able to film an interview is a critical skill for both those interested in starting a videography business and content creators hoping to reach new audiences.
It's easy to get overwhelmed when getting started, as the thought of multiple cameras, angles and microphones prevents you from even taking the first step.
In this video, I discuss a simple one camera interview set-up, with three different camera angles, that will help you get started - even if you only have your phone to film with.
We discuss:
1) the rationale for incorporating the cinematic interview into your filmmaking tool kit
2) the most important features when purchasing a new interview camera (e.g. type of autofocus)
3) Why I use the cameras I use for interviews, including the canon c200 and eos r, as well as cheaper alternatives for those just getting started.
4) different interview camera angles to consider, and their emotional impact
5) the basics of audio, and two options for getting great sound on your subject.
