Wow! what a collection we were lucky enough to see, Tom. I never knew that Ford sold their little 300E vans in the US. In the UK, their commercial vehicles were branded as 'Thames', not Ford. The factory at Dagenham was on the north bank of the River Thames, hence the name. The bezels on the front are a bit posh for the van - probably came from an Anglia or Prefect car. I guess it had a bit more power than the original 1172cc side valve engine! Thanks for this and all the other videos.

One of the reasons why cars from the early1980's to early 1990's haven't very popular is because of the electronic engine controls and sensor problems can be a pain to diagnose and fix. And being mostly electronic problems the only thing you can do is replace the item and junkyard parts are as problematic as what your trying to replace because you don't know if that one's good as well. I had a 1985 Corvette that I fought the battle with and some of the electronic parts were a one year only item and hard to find. Sometimes its just a bad connection inside the wiring loom and if you've ever taken a C4 Corvette dash apart to trace down a connection you know what a pain it is to do.
@ws8061
2 жыл бұрын
My Aunt had an early model square body Bravada which was meant to be a "luxury SUV" at the time so it was choc full of electronics and trust me there's a reason you don't see those things on the road anymore lol. I own a 94 f150 and it has EFI but it mostly does fine so IDK, it does have the 300 in it so maybe that's it. Something about adding lumbar supports and heated seats in that era just doomed the vehicle I guess.

Watch enough shows and videos about cars and the pattern quickly emerges. It’s always something that happens in the owner’s lives that dooms cars to sitting in fields, barns, and garages for decades before their time to shine comes back around. The story of these neglected old beauties is the story of our mortality and human frailty. Makes me a little sad each time I see one, not for the car, but for its caretaker.

It doesn't even have to be a setback, I got promoted a few times at work and now I have almost zero time for some of my hobbies. If one of them had been a restoration project, it definitely would have been headed to the back of the property in the last few years. My Mom gated the guy and powershifted 2nd. My Dad said he had never been so proud. 🤣🤣
