I loved the chat with Karen. The two of you are SO funny! Watching your gardening videos warms my heart. Earlier today it was snowing again here in Vermont, US. Then the wind came up and was making small snow-tornadoes on the small lake across the street. With 4 feet of snow where my garden goes, it will be a while before I get to planting. Thanks for a good laugh.

Catherine Here is a little trick I used. I bought several old large baking pans Inside them I used cardboard egg cartons They can be potted into your soil as the little egg cartons are biodegrade able ( not the styrofoam) I just used a knife to cut apart the little seedling cups to sow apart or in small groups. I gardened for over 25 years this year since I was 10 years old.

Love me some seed starting! I hope you give soil blocking another go. Some great resources are gardener's workshop and blossom and branch farm. They give good recipes--I prefer the small 3/4 in soil blockers, but the soil composition and moisture matter a lot for both. And to avoid washing the soil away they are all bottom watered with no issue 😊

Love spring and love looking at other gardens. They give me joy. The inspiration and ideas you can get are awesome. They help me figure out placement, combinations, ideas for vertical growing, and how/ what to pop in as fillers. They even introduce me to new plants, and remind me of one's I've forgotten. You talked me into trying heucheras again. And I am happy to say they made it through our hot dry summer last year, and bitter winter. They are peeking through their leaf mold as we speak: ). Speaking of which, Gardener's World is back!!! Thank you girl, I appreciate your videos!

Confession time, I found your channel about a week ago and have binge watched you, all the while drinking copious amounts of coffee! Q1 Did you watch Monty on Friday? Q2 have you thought about growing straw flowers for cut flowers and for drying for your crafts? Q3 I didn't want you to think I was a crazed stalker so didn't thumbs up all the vlogs I watched but will from now on if it helps your channel grow I can go back and do it? I'm going to feel a bit lost this coming week without your chatting to me from the kitchen table while I potter. Keep doing what you are doing 💞

I'm still a fan of making little paper pots sitting in trays to start my seedlings. Toilet paper rolls are the easiest as you showed. Newspaper ones are super easy to. Just roll into a cylinder around your hand and fold one end closed. I bought 6 of the big foil roasting pans at a dollar store years ago for a dollar each - the kind with the couple inch high plastic lids. I've had to patch the lids in several places where they cracked but they're still going strong. Making the paper starter pots is the stuff you do while watching a movie but it's super fast & easy. Loved the chit you had with Karen! What a fun duo you two are. More - please more of these!!

Here in New Jersey in the northeast of the US, the weather is warming up but staying wet. In past years we’ve hired a company to clean up our yard and plant beds and mulch everything, but the cost is quite high so this year I am determined we will do it ourselves! Last weekend I trimmed up all our bushes, cleaned up our hydrangeas and heuchera, and cleared out the garden beds in back. Today after work I cleared the front bed of some REALLY NASTY crab grass (ugh, it’s soooooo rooted) and have determined our neglected rose bushes need to come out (they have some insane disease that makes them suuuuuper thorny and tall???) Mulch has been ordered to be delivered Saturday, and we got ourselves a cart/wheelbarrow and a shrub rake to help us mulch! Now I just need it to not rain all weekend! Your videos really get me motivated!
