Authentic Kerala Dishes with my personal Touch 😍
Ingredients
Kadala - ½ cup
Raw banana - 1
Yam - small piece
Salt
Turmeric powder- 2 pinches + 1/4tsp
Chilly powder- ¼ tsp +1/4 tsp
Grated Coconut - 5 tbsp + 15 tbsp
Cumin seeds - ¼ tsp
Water - ½ cup + ½ cup + ¼ cup
Jaggery - 1 block
Coconut oil
Mustard seeds
Urid Daal - ¼ tsp
Whole dried chillies - 4
Curry leaves
Pepper powder - ¼ tsp
Soak black channa/kadala overnight.
Slice the raw plantain and the yam into small pieces. Add a glass of water in the cooker along with the soaked kadala with some salt, turmeric powder, chilly powder and cook it for 5 whistles.when the pressure releases we have to open it.
Cook the yam and the plantain with turmeric and chilly powder. Add some salt and water. Cook it with the lid on. Switch of the heat when the water is dried and the vegetables have cooked.
Take a grinder and add 5 tbsp of grated coconut (normal temp), cumin seeds and grind both with water.
Take a deep bottomed pan and add the cooked kadala and the vegetables. Add the ground coconut. Sprinkle the grated jaggery. Let it melt on heat.
Meanwhile on another pan add some coconut oil and let the mustard seeds splutter. Add urid daal , whole red chillies and some curry leaves. Now add 15 tbsp of grated coconut. Saute it till the coconut is brown color. Saute for 15 - 20 mins. When it Is done add pepper powder. Now mix the kadala and veggie mix to the brown coconut mix. Mix well. Check the spices and salt.
