The Korean Cultural Center Los Angeles (KCCLA), in partnership with The Korean Ministry of the Interior and Safety's National Archives of Korea, proudly presents a special photography exhibition: 70 Years of ROK-U.S. Alliance in Photos, “We Go Together!” at the Korean Cultural Center Art Gallery (located at 5505 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90036).
The main theme of the exhibition, "We Go Together" symbolizes the alliance between ROK-U.S., since ROK General Paik Sun-yup (1920-2020) met his ally, U.S. General Douglas MacArthur, in February, 1951 and said those exact words. 2023 marks the 70th anniversary of the October 1st, 1953 signing of the Mutual Defense Treaty between the United States and the Republic of Korea.
The National Archives of Korea created this special collection of historical photos and media to be exhibited in the United States to commemorate this important milestone. More than 70 photos show the history of Korea and the United States overcoming hardships and adversity through the difficult years of the 1950-53 Korean War, emerging later as an ironclad alliance. They also illustrate how this unique alliance has endured through time, extending beyond the military to include shared civic values, economic interests, and cultural ties.
