On the 18th November 2011 the Victoria Glentoran Supporters Club celebrated their 60th Anniversary with a function at their clubrooms in the RAF Club at the Mount. The evening was attended by many of the Glentoran Legends and also representitives of many of the other Glentoran Supporters Clubs.
One of the highlights of the evening was a special DVD that was shown on the big screen. The DVD was transferred from the original cine film in which it was shot by long serving Victoria GSC member, Bobby York. Depicted on the Dvd were films showing some insight into the history of the Victoria GSC, such as a Player of the Year Function from the early 1970's featuring a very young Roy Coyle and also a club outing to the Races at Ayr. However, one other segment of the film was of great interest to the body of the hall. It shows footage from a game at the Oval from around 1962/63 season between Glentoran and Cliftonville. What is particularly fascinating is the size of the crowd that attended that game.
You can see this fantastic footage for yourself now as the Victoria GSC have very kindly lent us Bobby York's excellent film for Glentoran TV to show on the site.
I am sure you will agree, it is a fascinating look back at a by-gone era not just of the Victoria Glentoran Supporters Club but of Glentoran Football Club itself.
