I am so in love with your William Morris quilt! I have just taken a long arm class and will be able to rent their machine for $20 an hour. Long arm quilters earn their money for sure! I will be driving the machine and following a pattern with a laser. It is exhausting and thrilling. I want to practice free motion designs on my domestic machine before trying it on the long arm. It is so fun and rewarding.

Have you thought of “signing” your quilts? I’ve found that dating and signing quilted items helps with the providence of the items. You’d be amazed how years later you wonder, “when did I make that?”. I use a permanent micro ink marker and find a corner to use, or make a patch from a neutral fabric and sew it to the backing. I’m enjoying your enthusiasm for your new craft ❤
@Voolenvine

Yes!! I've been trying to figure out the best way to sign them and wondered if ink can be used. Thanks for letting me know a permanent micro marker is safe to use, Julia!💖

Kristin, your quilts are lovely. Years ago I started EPP with the Grandmother's Garden hexie quilt. By years ago, I'm talking like 2014ish. We moved and downsized in 2016 and somewhere along the lines my box of hexies/flowers disappeared (along with other stuff too, LOL). But lately, I have been itching to start up again so I just started cutting my hexies yesterday to make a Christmas table runner. Needless to say, I am thoroughly enjoying your ventures into quilting. Along with your knitting and crochet as well. I am definitely multi craftual.

Thank you so much! Dooooo iiiit!!! Once you learn how to make a straight stitch, you can do anything. 🌎🦪🙌 Depending how much free time I have I can finish a throw-sized quilt top in a week or so. I actually started a quilt over the weekend and will probably finish the quilt top today (monday). They come together pretty quick! 😄 The best place I always recommend to start is to get a charm pack of 5"x5" fabric prints you love + another contrasting solid charm pack to make a simple square block quilt - creating several strips of squares, then sewing each strip together to make a baby-size blanket. You can easily find batting and binding on Amazon and you can use an old bed sheet as the backing. Missouri Star also has some fantastic beginner-friendly tutorials on KZitem! Here's a quick 9-patch quilt using a jelly roll: kzitem.info/news/bejne/squw22Z-bqqWeoY Hope this helps!
