When I watch brilliance like this and then look at the trains of today....It just makes me want to cry..

Good comment iceolated,I particularly liked the 47 sometimes known as a DUFF for some reason dragging an east coast electric, think this was the case as the cantenary was down,a frequent thing on the ECML!

56105 used to go past my house wheni was a kid regularly... it used to pull coal up the north east coast.. nowadays there is very little goods traffic on the line. i also remember there used to be a train consisting of 2 class 31s pulling used nuclear fuel rods from hartlepool to sellafield which went past our house every 2 weeks

I got this for my birthday. Excellent selection of classic diesels, my only complaint is that you don't see the whole train on most of the clips. Not such a problem with homogeneous rakes of MGR wagons, but when more interesting stuff like Enterprise workings go past, I would like to see the wagons. More so with passenger trains, like the Caledonian sleeper.

Most new trains sound rubbish. However the Class 68s sound great so it shows it can still be done, but they are an exception.

Why the algo threw this at me I don't know! I was waiting for thrash, but all I saw was a few knackered, smoky old locos. Nice of you to record their death knell though.

This was one of the last real drags out of Preston and brought back memories of engines "dropping out of the sky" 105 worked into Preston from Carlisle and then back. If my memory serves me correct 47742, 47845 and 47757 also dragged

Ever since I walked from one end of a Class 37 cab to the other through the gangway in the early 70s at Stranraer Harbour station I really took on the sound of the engine of that locomotive. “Thrash” though as a term doesn’t make a lot of sense to me ....it’s a bit more like what happens when you pay top dollar at a place of knocking. What is the thrash some loco enthusiasts speak of? It’s like clag as well which is just pollution but would be better spoken or written of as diesel exhaust fumes. It’s kind of silly using these adjectives out of context although hard to deny if this is a legitimate new usage and I am too old to catch on.

Ham and Eggs 1750bhp, making them a Type 3. EE medium speed 12 CSVT engine. Transaction: 12 cylinder (V12) Turbocharged Traction engine. The C refers to the type of cylinder head fitted.
