Jeep really needs to develop some new motors. If they're trying to do luxury, they need a turbo V6 and turbo V8 as engine options. Faster, more efficient engine options. This engine was in the Chrysler 200, for crying out loud.
@2010challengerRT
3 жыл бұрын
No it wasn't. The 200 had the previous version of the 3.6L. This has the Pentastar upgrade. Or the ancient Hemi (Which I love). But anyway, I do agree they're a bit lazy and falling behind on engines. Hopefully that rumored 3.0L Inline 6 turbo happens sooner than later.

@jefferybaxter1225

Between the 3.6 liter V6 and the 5.7 liter HEMI V8 engine I would choose the V8. At the same time the 3.6 liter Pentastar V6 isn't too old. Some of the competitors for the Jeep Grand Cherokee L either regular or luxury competitors have been using the same engine for a longer period. Take for instance the Acura MDX. That 3.5 liter V6 has been in that vehicle since the first generation in 2001. What Jeep should've done was to increase the horsepower and torque numbers just a pinch for the V6 to an even 300 horsepower and the pound feet of torque to 270 or 275. I assume there wasn't an increase in performance numbers due to the fact that sometime last year in 2020 new emission guidelines took effect. I think that could be the reason for no increase in the performance numbers, but I'm not 100% sure. That thought came to mind because in general, new generation vehicles that came out last year or this year regardless of automaker didn't get any increase in performance numbers over the previous generation.

They should move the Durango to the new platform and also give Dodge a version of the regular Grand Cherokee, give if different front and rear styling and call it something else (idk Nitro maybe). Also update the V6 and V8 with direct injection and aluminum blocks for the Hemi, that should increase the 5.7L power to at least 400Hp and drop a few pounds from the front end of the vehicle, making it nimbler, faster and more fuel efficient.
@bradnimbus4836

Ip wouldn't be worth the added cost to go aluminum. They'd have to retool their factories, make new parts, redesign others all for a maybe a hundred pounds?
