I have but one Peterson. It is the first briar pipe I ever bought. It was unsmoked in its original box at an antique shop. I love it, but one thing’s for sure, if you pack it full you’re not going anywhere for quite some time. That bowl is very large.

Petersons are my favourite pipes, too. My very first was a small ‘standard system’ full bent, which I still have thirty odd years on; it’s a sturdy little smoker. I currently have six Petersons in all (I’ve gifted several over the years), but none from the S.H. collection; the “Professor” is a lovely shape - my next purchase, if I can get it. Happy smokes!

Lovely verses from both Marvell and you! Speaking of poems about delicious solitude, there's this one I've always liked from Emily Dickinson: There is another Loneliness That many die without - Not want of friend occasions it Or circumstance of Lot But nature, sometimes, sometimes thought And whoso it befall Is richer than could be revealed By mortal numeral - Thanks for enriching our solitude, Malcolm!

Good evening Malcolm, Why is it that I'm not surprised that you have a book on Kapp and Peterson! I started smoking a pipe as a student, which was rather eccentric in 1980, but could never smoke a bent Peterson as the smoke would get up my nose and irritate my sinuses. This has always been a problem and has led me to stop and start smoking. I began smoking my straight Peterson billiard 10 months ago but felt the need to stop in November. Alas, after watching your videos with you puffing away, the longing to pick up the habit again is becoming stronger! I wonder if most pipe smokers get these problems with sinus? Are you still smoking black cherry, Malcolm? And do you smoke other blends? In these dark times perhaps one should permit oneself a pipe, and a tipple of what takes your fancy! God bless.

Hi, Malcolm! Thank you for sharing your poem in honor of Peterson. I wrote one in 2009, which, with my permission, the Peterson staff displayed in its historic Museum. Messrs. Irwin and Malmberg omitted it from their history of the Peterson brand. While I should have liked to see it included in _The Peterson Pipe: The Story of Kapp and Peterson_, I think the Peterson staff more properly qualified to assess its quality and value than Mark and Gary are.

Good evening Malcolm. I am a Swede with hair on almost my entire head, often sit and read and smoke a few pipes. A few years ago I got a box of handmade pipes, mostly Danish, but there was a "Petersen`s ......d arte kidare 05s Made in the Republic of Ireland" mouthpiece is stamped "P". What puzzles me is that it has no silver ring and I have not been able to find the model. When I saw that you have a book about Petersen, maybe you can help me with information. Thanks in advance. Merry Christmas! and happy New Year!

Pipe tobacco has an awesome room note. If you get creative with candles, cooking or a glade plug in, the smome dissipates unlike cigarette smoke. No paper, no additives to yellow your walls. I smoke indoors in my bathroom, and all my non smoking girls, always want to use my bathroom but wont even enter a cigarette smokers house. Personal experience
