The choreographer definitely choreographed wolf turn fake outs at the end there I was like “noooo!” and she kept moving “noooo!” and she kept moving. 😂 Amazing as always go Mai ✊

I feel a bit sorry for Melnikova, but honestly, Murakami's FX is a world champion's FX, it looks awesome, and on top of that, she won in front of her home crowd, what a win ! :)

She deserved the win. Her choreography is just so apt with her choice of music. She showed real acro-dance moments reminiscent of floor exercises decades ago which are great to watch. Floor exercises recently became monotonous because of the cop.

Mai Murakami is an amazing gymnast! She shows lots of courage, optimism and dedication throughout her performance, with high attention to details in the jumps, rotations and floor landing techniques. @@chronicdancaderua3716 Gelya made mistakes, she made mistakes in her L-turn and 1/2 switch jump. Her legs were also crooked in the tumbling. Mai was cleaner overall and competed her full difficulty. Mai earned that gold.

Murakami was excellent. After the third pass she knew she was on the way to gold. Melnikova was great as usual, but her nemesis wolf turns once again were a minefield of deductions and they took her out of first place.

Melnikova's form wasn't the best in tumbling yesterday. Also it's possible that her 1/2 switch leap was downgraded.

@@fortheloveofcats2462 Regardless, Melnikova's execution score was an 8.4 whilst Murakami's was an 8.266. So if Melnikova had been given a tenth more of her d-score (which was a 5.8 in the QF) she would have won.

You cut these videos too tight. It would have been nice if the video was 10 seconds longer so that we can enjoy seeing the athlete's reaction after a great performance as well as hearing the audience cheer for that athlete and performance. This is all part of reliving that moment.

I was very happy that Mai is the one that got it, but also upset about what happened to Melni. I mean, she uses 3 complex turns, 1 turn CV and a switch ring half, how on earth their coaches didn't have a inquiry form ready in case of need?

They did, as soon as she saw her score come through she went straight to her coaches to file an inquiry. The issue is that hers got rejected whilst Murakami's got accepted.

I also saw Angelina went to her coaches. But for me, the point is her coach summitted the inquiry ON TIME or not. I mean, on Live screen we even didn't see Angelina's inquiry when Mai was waiting , but saw Mai's inquiry when Maria (ROU) was waiting? Looks like Russian team even didn't send the inquiry. (If inquiry sent but be rejected, at least it would also show 'score unchanged/inquiry rejected' on screen.) I know Angelina said what she knew from her coach was they did submitted... well, It's quite strange. But I think it's nothing about Mai.

@@MD-722 All we saw was Melni going to her coaches, and Bulgakova arguing with some guy after Mai's score. There was no official record that an inquiry was submitted and rejected, neither it was shown on broadcast, so how are you so sure? Because Rodionenko said? Apparently they tried to submit the inquiry out of time and it wasn't even received by the pannel.

It 100% is. Mai and Angelina are equal as gymnasts on floor. They have similar difficulty and almost similar execution, just as they proved in the Olympics. But yesterday Gelya made more mistakes than Mai.

It's a joke this solo final, and as always Japan is showing itself to be a filthy nation and always stealing, Mai is a great gymnast but her execution was really dirty, Melnikova was better, and in bronze it was ridiculous Wong did a very dirty series and it was urazova bronze was superior , kayla is the worst artistic gymnast I have ever seen , has a ridiculous elephant lightness this fifth place with the worst solo in the final ... ie , Japan and the united states helped , at least Wong has an artistic brlo , already kayla should change sport looks like a robot so bad !!!

it's all about difficulty score. Gelya and Vlada got the highest execution score but Vlada have a low difficulty. And Gelya didn't do something, as i read. and i'm saying it as Russian
