would love to see how this synth takes on the challenge of more ambient bloopy stuff. it feels like the corrupt knobs are a great candidate for that healthy mix of predictability and unpredictability you get in that genre

@@bricelory9534 I was personally looking at the subharmonicon as my first dip into modular (i want to focus more on ambient drones) but the labyrinth is definitely now a strong contender to be an accessory piece to that setup

@@campfire2953 definitely - and another review shows this has a drone mode, so it doesn't have to be just short oscillator hits. Honestly, from what I can tell, both are quite cool and can do some very fascinating things. For me personally, I'm more interested in this sort of generative sequencing, but the Subharmonicon can do some special things itself.

The lack of attack stages could make it very static and limit it’s expressive range. I agree that the sequencer / corrupt function seems like it would work great for that type of music. But from what I can tell it’s either drone or quick attack. Maybe manually playing with the volume / filter while in drone would be a good compromise!

Really interested in this! I love generative and semi-genetative things, and the dual sequencers add a lot of possibilities and counter melodies/modulations. It is cool seeing how well this works as an experimental drum machine too!

I have spent about 20 or 25 K on synths and eurorack during the last 4 years but this actually covers most of i wanted to do in a compact and well priced stand alone device.

Surely the whole point of eurorack/modular is to see how much money you can spend to make random fart noises. Doing it cheaper is not in the right spirit 😂

@@DoctorRevers Modular = fart, Korg = music. Got it. I better start letting the 60 years of musicians that made legendary music with modular systems know they did it wrong. Wendy Carlos is going to be super bummed. Thank you for your insight!

@@Cryptic808 Musicians like Wendy Carlos abused the Moog for music because there was nothing else available at the time, they would have wanted modern complex keyboard synthesizers. @@snörre23 Ok. Think I got it now. modular = sad, lonely bros making random noisy farts for no audience. non-modular = willful listeners enjoying music. They should really stop making pitch quantizers and smooth sounding filters then. @@Cryptic808anything those guys have produced with modular fart boxes could have been made with standard synths. In fact vince clarke definitely did make all his best known music like that. Unless you can point me to some examples of stuff proving otherwise, happy to be educated, but I just don't see it. Apart from being nerdy fun for people with plenty of money, which is fine, I've never heard anything massively inspirational musically from a modular setup.
