Chandler, Oklahoma was founded on September 28, 1891, as a result of the Land Run of 1891. The town was named after George Chandler, an Assistant Secretary of the Interior. Chandler was originally located on a scenic hilltop in the center of Lincoln County, but it was later moved to its current location at the intersection of U.S. Highway 66 and Oklahoma Highway 18.
