I am enjoying your series quite a bit. I have often wondered why I have seen so many of these boats parked all alongside the highways in the southern states. Plus I have seen a number of them on Lake Shasta and scattered around Redding in Northern California. Plus a number of them around Sacramento and Stockton.

If you expect to entertain on your boat look for a good storage. Ok check! Don’t over-load your limited power supply. Ok check m Wait a min! I’ve never had a house boat in my life and I’m pretty sure I can guess right on all of these things! Yeah I don’t think this vid is for me. Apparently I’m already a houseboat expert and didn’t even know it! Heck! Where do I sign?

I was astonished at the lack of strong securement for all the systems and ballast you have below decks! Almost nothing is strapped down with any king of strong fastenings. You will definitely be in trouble if that boat starts rocking and moving around in any kind of rough water! Very un boat like!

All of the fittings are held in place by wood blocks screwed to the lower hull floor. The ballast cement blocks have not moved in 20 years and we have been through some very rough wake - however, you understand we ARE on an inland lake.

@@houseboats1013 yes, I figured you were on a very sheltered lake. But because of the size of your boat, I expect it a larger lake. The lakes and rivers I play on can get very very lumpy. Lakes like Lake Washington, Lake Chelan, Lake Coeur d’Alene, Moses lake. And the rivers I play on are the Columbia, Snake and willamette river’s. Plus Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands. A long time ago in the 60’s and 70’s we had a houseboat maker called Cruise-A-Home in the 32 to 50 foot range which made houseboats. They used a Ray Hunt designed hull which was a very capable design which could take some nasty water. There are a number of them still around. I have leaned that if it floats on water, everything on board needs to be anchored and secured quite stoutly.
