Thanks for the video. Wiper controls were on the door of Cadillacs since early 1960's.

There definitely were Cadillac ambulances in the late 70s, I remember them being converted from the new downsized square Cadillacs until about 1979 when they switched to vans, , regular cargo vans, not vans with the bigger "U-Haul" type box rear put on it like you see now. I also have seen a few Pontiac hearses which I thought was pretty strange. My dad had good reasoning why they needed to be Cadillacs and not just regular station wagons, because Cadillacs had large engines so they could go really fast do the hospital, now they are expected to be basically a complete emergency room that can treat people on the spot, rather than just quick transportation to a real ER.

They had Cadillac ambulances in the 1970's. I recall a 1975- 1976 version. Thank you for sharing your experiences from the professional show. That company did an Oldsmobile too. I am referring to the 1960 Buick LeSabre you shared. I have pictures of it in one of my Oldsmobile books here in the house. Thank you again.

Great video, thank you for sharing this. Back in the day the 60's and early 70's Suburban came with only 3 door from the factory. The first 4 door model wasn't until 73.

The rear-quarter-panel mirrors in the Fleetwood Seventy-Five were for women to check their cosmetics and hair. That C/B Combination is beautiful. That gentleman was very kind to explain everything in detail for you. Most funeral homes, especially busy one's, back in the day, would not fool with removing the "bubble-gum machine" from the roof for funerals. They would, however, be sure to put the removable panels on the rear quarter windows to cover the ambulance lettering if etched in the glass, and the panels had landau bows on them to distinguish the vehicle as a formal hearse. Buick hearses were very well built and S&S made great Buick hearses. We got so sick of the poor mechanics of our late 1980's Cadillacs we switched to S&S Buicks, and they were some of the very best hearses we ever had. Back in 1980 we had auctioned off our 1936 Buick carved-side hearse that sat out in the garage for years. We used it occasionally and it always fired-up instantly. There were also C/B Oldsmobile hearses, ambulances and combos built on the Ninety-Eight chassis that were also wonderful cars. If the owners were looking for the softest, least jarring ride for their ambulance customers the Ninety-Eights were the best. They were also very fast and very mechanically dependable. We had a number of them over the years. Great cars. Back in the day, a Lincoln hearse was a rarity. Probably because unlike Cadillac, Lincoln did not manufacture a purpose-built chassis. Anyone who wanted a Lincoln limousine was going to have to go to Lehman-Peterson to get one spliced together from a regular chassis. Therefore, what few hearses were made tended to be much less dependable and hard to discount the purchase price. Thanks for the tour down memory lane! I always enjoy your vids!

1967 thru 1972 all Chevy Suburbans had only three doors. Before 1967 they only had 2 doors, and starting in 1973 they had 4 doors. The ambulance with 3 doors was not a 4 door that was modified.

The 61 ambulance is beautiful. That body style looks good regardless of how it is configured. I am old enough to remember when Caddies were used as ambulances and of course were dispatched from a local funeral home.

James, I stumbled on to your channel and immediately subscribed. I have owned a few Cadillacs and I follow the brand. What is great, I think Cadillac is finally embracing their heritage in a modern EV way. That should lend itself well to not only powerful, quiet luxury, but the V series should be quite phenomenal! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the very interesting information you provided here. I do recall seeing the occasional Buick or Olds hearse. Also, there were a few Pontiac (Bonneville I suppose) models seen from time to time. Good work here by all!

The last Cadillac-based ambulances were in the 1979 model year. You kept calling that 1969 hearse a Fleetwood. The Cadillac Commercial Chassis was not Fleetwood. But that's okay. Well that was the first Cotner-Bevington Buick I've ever heard of. Cotner-Bevington usually did Oldsmobiles, and Flxible usually did Buicks. That white Cadillac was a `63. Nice assortment of cars.

Well, this was a treat! It looked to be an interesting show and must have been fund to see. That '60 Buick was so cool. The coach builder for the '61 Cadillac got creative with the lower set of taillights, reducing them to a single lenses as opposed to the dual set, which were horizontally grouped from factory and wouldn't have worked with the massive rear door. They did a very nice job, and it couldn't have been easy. Or cheap.

Just F.Y.I. the Cadillac Calais is pronounced (Kal - A) not ( Kal - is). I enjoy your reviews, please keep them coming our way...! The Cadillac Calais was the entry-level Cadillac model that was sold from 1965 to 1976. Cadillac renamed its low-priced Series 62 in 1965 as the "Calais", after the French city of Calais that overlooks the narrowest point in the English Channel. With the exception of no convertible model, the Calais shared the same styling as the better-equipped, more expensive De Ville.

The Suburban didn't have a rear door on the driver's side. That way passengers could only get in on the curb side. A safety feature to keep passengers from entering the vehicle street side.

I love the fact people your age are salivating over classic cars of the past. Operating a diner (breakfast/Lunch) restaurant for the past 38 years I seen the interest of young people dwindling interests with classics. When I see someone like you (guy or gal) keeping the classics alive makes me very happy. I love how excited you get sometimes in your videos reminds me of me as a young adult. I made myself Broke always buying new and many classics here in the NE paying for Storage in winter and always having to invest to keep them in tip top shape.

It’s a specialty / niche car show. Not like a traditional car show you are used to with ‘69 Camaro, Chevelles, Mustangs etc. You certainly would be disappointed however some folks are “dying” to attend this event!
