Wow! A nostalgic trip down memory lane (actually River Street, Daniel Street, Broad Street, and New Haven Avenue). As kids, we frequently rode our bikes downtown to purchase comic books at Izzy's. Also, we usually made a stop at the Hobby Shop on Factory Lane. I didn't know that Mark had made this 8 mm film. Thank you for posting it, Don. Best wishes.

My brother, Mark Jacobson, shot this video with an 8mm home movie camera. We made a lot of movies, using what we had, a silent camera, 50 feet of movie film that you would turn over halfway through, to turn the 25 ft of 16mm into 50ft of 8mm. We would add the music while we played it, thanks to today's technology, I had it transferred to a DVD by Kodak, and then added the original choice of music using iMovie. Cop in a can, isn't it great!

Great vid! Thanks for sharing. I like how the "Cop in a Can" came with its own beach-umbrella. Would you happen to know WHEN in the '60s this was? Seems pretty late. That quick glimpse of the old NYNH&H train was cool. Wondering who that attractive lady carrying groceries was.

I grew up in Milford during the 60's. Brings back memories. The cop stand downtown. Milford Camera Shop, Kriegers. My Uncle was mayor in the 70's as well. It was a great place to grow up.

I moved to Milford in 1961 this brought back a lot of good memories, but play it at half speed to really enjoy it.

My dad has lived in Milford for 40 years, and has always told me he liked it growing up =] it's cool to see how the town looked during that period, especially since he wasn't much older than I was at the time. Thank you for making this!

How awesome. Budding producers and film makers. You should post more. It's such an impossible glimpse into a time and place so familiar yet wasn't even born yet. I so enjoy your movies

Linda French Staebler Peggy, Thank you so much for posting this. When I watched it and saw the policeman in his stand, I was so excited. I have told many people that in the town where I grew up we had a policeman in a bucket!!! They would look at me like I was crazy. I have tried to find a picture but never successful. So thanks again! Linda

If you watch it at half speed (under settings) it's much easier to see everything

The video is from a silent 8mm home movie, It was done by pressing the shutter/on repeatedly, which interrupted the movie, almost like a stop action video, capturing a few frames every other second. Nothing was altered on a computer.

Was it going that fast in the original in the 1960s? Or was it done that way now? I wish I could see it at normal speed. Late family friend Sarah Goodall might be in there somewhere.

Unfortunately the 8mm movie was taken by rapidly pressing and releasing the shutter button so the only way to see it slower is to download the video then play it back at a slower speed.

if you are watching on a laptop, you should be able to slow it down. Hit settings (looks like a gear) in lower right and choose playback speed. about .25 or .50 you can view it better.
