There is a note right by the head in the foundry from Ketheric which says that he sent it over after one of his underlings found it in the underdark, might even have happened after you yourself was in the underdark, have not been able to confirm if it's still there if you never enter the arcane tower.

@@pognava ^ That. From my understanding, this is supposed to be Bernard's head, not some other, similar looking automaton's. I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up if you never entered the tower - Thorm's goons entering the Underdark and searching the tower doesn't really depend on you visiting the tower before, IMO. And as much as I like the idea that she or her partner were somehow involved in the creation of the Steel Watch, it doesn't make much sense, time-line wise. Florrick mentions the Steel Watch pretty early in the story, IIRC. It's either in the burning tavern or at Last Light. So they probably existed already when your character fell out of that Nautiloid. Besides: Bernard is pretty primitive compared the more "high tech" Steel Watchers. For one thing: He doesn't have a tadpoled brain in a jar controlling him.. :D A "logical" explanation for why the head shows up would be that whoever brought it with them thought it would interest Gortash and the people working on the Steel Watchers.

Easy to miss- the effect of Staff of Arcane blessing is actually a more powerful Bless, buffing spell attacks by an extra d4 than normal Bless, showing Lenore's status as a Cleric of Mystra
@thebrewingsailor9172

If you cast bless via the staff, does it still require concentration?
@1SaG
11 ай бұрын
Actually... it's a 1d4 to regular attacks and 2d4 on top of that to spell attack rolls. Characters will have two "Bless"-conditions/icons appear next to their portrait. Unless they've changed any of that... going to have to check out the exact numbers again... :) EDIT: It also seems that while the regular, 1d4 Bless the staff gives requires concentration, but "Mystra's Blessing" (the added 2d4) does not. I just had Shadowheart break concentration after she used the staff and it only canceled the 1d4 condition, not the 2d4 one. It's a pretty powerful item, just for this "super-bless" spell. I can't justify using it as the regular weapon on any of my characters (Blood of Lathander is just too perfect for a Cleric, IMO) and dual-wielding staves is a bit too cheezy I think. But I still have Shadowheart carry it around and before a tougher fight, I will switch her to it, use the spell on my party - prioritizing magic-users - then quickly switch her back to her regular weapon-set and only then start the fight. Even if there's lengthy pre-fight dialogue, I'll still have 7 or 8 rounds of the spell left once things get going. Which should be more rounds than you'll ever need to finish any fight in the game.

9:00 No need to use Misty Step to get to the lowest level of the tower. You need to use one of the lines from the play on Bernard and he'll put a ring on the table ("Guiding Light") for you to pick up. If you have that ring in your inventory and take the elevator down to the lowest floor it will normally go to, the "Descend" button on the floor will re-appear and you'll be able to press it and ride the elevator down all the way into the cellar. Your Tav will comment on the fact that the ring must've turned the button visible. AFAIK, there's no other way of seeing that button. Stuff like See Invisibility spells/elixirs or Volo's eye don't do the trick.

There is one book that was "Barely Touched" -- So it was either a recent programming, or she didn't want to accidentally mutter the words for what the command would execute. The name of the book: Evil's Ascent Command: "There is light in every living thing. It's crawling t'wards the surface to survive." Execution: "And in its wake, it tramples everything. We'll kill the rest, so that the one can thrive." Here's my theory told as a story: She gave up on life, she gave up on love... and only had the robots that her dearest Yrre left with her, powered by her magic. -- She knew that he would thrive without her, that he should not return to the Underdark, and remain on the surface where it is bright and that his light could shine. But in doing so, trampled upon her heart, and it was time for her to let go. She tore out a page from one of her favorite play books and wrote one final command to program Bernard. While crying, and barely able to control her shaking hands, she wrote her final words. She left the note and walked over her to her reading desk, and hastily rememorized the words of the forbidden Stanza - Then stormed to her elevator to Ascend to the top of the tower before she would change her mind. She brokenheartedly, approached Bernard with tears rolling down her cheeks. Lowering her head, looking towards the floor, she says, ""The silence stretches on - I'm all alone. Please, can I hold your hands, for just awhile?" -- Bernard emotionlessly leaned over and gave her a hug with his cold, souless arms. Where she then pondered in a moment of silence. Bernard releases his hug, and Lenore takes a step back. -- Tears rolling from her eyes, lips trembling, she whispered: "There is light in every living thing. It's crawling t'wards the surface to survive." Bernard responds, "And in its wake, it tramples everything. We'll kill the rest, so that the one can thrive." The electric core in Bernard's chest, powered by Lenore's very own magic begins to charge, building to a thunderous roar. Lenora's final tear hits the floor as Bernard releases a thunderous shockwave of lightening and raw force, launching her battered body through the tower's wall, falling into the chasm below.... The only thing that remains is a last solitary tear drop on the floor, energized and crackling from Lenore's power, before the light slowly fades away.

So, you can find a letter written to Lenore from a friend, stating that she is glad Lenore is coming to Baldur's Gate for a magic conference. It's dated 10 years ago. In the basement, you can find an unsent letter Lenore has written to Elminster, speaking about how she visited some Netherese ruins. My theory is that, before Lenore left the tower she penned the note for Yrre, hoping he would come to the tower while she was away in Baldur's Gate. He did, and he found the note. He waited for as long as he possibly could, but at some point he realized... she wasn't coming back. But in the vain hope she would, he left his own message penned below hers. The reason Lenore went to Baldur's Gate was to discuss what she had discovered at the ruins: the Crown of Karsus. Before she could, however, Gortesh found her. He let her continue to work on inventions for him, this being the only reason he kept her alive. After she created what would someday become the Steel Watch, he knew he had to kill her before she could tell anyone of his plans. And he did.

If you stand on the corner of the platform going up the stairs and angle yourself correctly, you can use Misty Step, or summon a mage hand, underneath the stairs you are on effectively bypassing the requirement of getting the ring to activate the Basement's button on the lift. I have not tested if Feather Fall/Jumping can squeeze over the wooden rail or not, but the other two methods absolutely work. A couple asides; For the ring, the note where she's leaving for Baldur's Gate, she mentions she's bringing the ring "to show them a glimpse of the possibilities," which seems like it would be based on her research. I would rule out the guiding light ring used to move about the tower, and the ring her paramour created. The only semi-hole to me is the hobgoblin's nonchalance that you mention. Lenore says at one point she will return by next year's Ches (month). Yrre returns and writes a note that says he waited, waited until Trasahk (the month after Ches - when she said she would return). It seems like he read the journal noting her return and did wait like she asked, but she never came back. All very inriguing, thank you for putting this together.

the basement is accessible using the guiding light ring you get from destroying Bernard. the arcane turrets cam be disabled by sussar flows - just throw them at the turrets and they power down.

That's a great narrative, good job! I was quite touched by this story. And I missed that steak button for Lenore's dog - that's cool. The chest of mundane is no longer useful - it doesn't reduce weight, unfortunately. Used to be the best item for a barellomancer) You don't have to use Misty step to access the hidden lab - there's a secret passage, an illusion to the side. We can assume that Yrre and Lenore never met again because we get the Spellsparkler staff (IMO, the best thing for Arcane Missiles and Scorching Ray) not in the tower but from Counceller Florrick - there is no way Yrre would have sold a staff that was made specifically for Lenore as a gift, unless he was sure there's no point in looking for her anymore. A fuckin' heartbreak.

YES!!! this is one of those unspoken stories that can very easily be missed. The music in the tower always made it seem like something dark happened there. I took several playthroughs to understand that a Lenore lived there, tried to tame something, and disappeared. The automotons also were creepy, especially because out of all the poetry the most positive one, triggers a kill command. I always felt I was missing something, but I just looked it up and see I’m not the only one intrigued by this mystery

Glad I found your channel. When I found the tower I was curious and started looking for anything I could on Lenore. After only finding a bit of the things you mentioned, I gave up. It started feeling like I was on a wild goose chase. Thank you for filling in the gaps I was missing and I do hope that Lenore and Yrre found each other and are living happy somewhere. Great video. I have subscribed. Keep up the great work.

This game's depth continues to amaze me; even as I'm watching the video and seeing things I completely missed, I'm struck by the fact that I saw some of the same things but accessed them with completely different methods (For example, I used a different tactic to get past the active turrets, and there is another puzzle that will get you into the basement without using specific spells or anything.) Thanks for making this, hope to see more videos like this one! Your voice and cadence are perfect for doing lore deep dives like this, keep them coming!

I believe Lenore actually met with the planeswalker, Tarquin from Divinity: Original Sin 2. One of the last letters you can find of Lenore is one addressed to Lorroakan in Sorcerous Sundries basement. Where Tarquin appeared upon her. No traces of the weave on him (Likely because he used Source to teleport) and landed ontop of her. That was her last known appearance caught in this anomoly with Tarquin. She likely is still alive and only had her hand in some of the events in the game. Her construct design was noticed by Gortash, and you only find Bernard's head if you killed him in the Underdark. Where he'll appear in the steel watch foundry. Her loneliness is a defining factor, but I've not a doubt in my mind that Lenore left and might've found an adventure of her own in the 11 year span.

I agree with you except for one point. I believe that the bulette caused the structural damage to the tower. As much as she may have wanted to tame it and raise it as a companion, it probably ate her, and badly damaged the structure of the tower.

There's a half eaten Dwarf at Filro the Forgotten's location. I usually tend to think she went to either go see the grave or try and make friends with this guy not knowing he's gone mad, and the hook horrors killed and ate her, and not to mention he also says that they fed him the dwarf. Havent gotten a chance to see if you can actually see the corpse, just to make sure it not a Duergar.

Lenore is definitely a dwarf being a halfling causes Benard to reach to High but I will go test with a dwarf to confirm. Updated okay the dwarf is also too short more testing is required. Okay so nah Lenore is just short she isn't a gnome halfling or a dwarf

With more than 150 hours in act 1, I had not found either the grave or the secret basement. Also, the grave + button broke me. Little +, the Hug receiver of the tower was not a Halflin, as it seems that you've not the correct height for receiving it ;)

There's mysterious hole in the ground near the colony as you go towards the sussur tree. If you have speak with animals on you can yell into the hole and the bullette will answer you and it's got a real nasty disposition. Until people talked about the foundry, I was guessing that it had turned on her and eaten her.

Thank you. I enjoyed the lore and history. Well done. I have learned that I need to slow down a bit on this game...take time to learn, read, and immerse myself more in my character. I think, for me, that rushing like an objective based game is a mistake. Not succumbing to the NPC/Teammates urgency is so helpful. I am going back (deleting early runs at this game) and starting over...such a great game considering the number of times I have started over and each situation and story is pretty different. Also a huge mistake to rush through dialogue (that I presume to have already had). So much to discover, explore, and intake as an experience. I really liked this video.

There was a verse that you can find and also recite to Benard. Reciting this verse will also cause him to become hostile, and he and, along with the other robots, will attack you. Why would she have a verse lying around her tower that causes the automatons to attack her.

There are two other ways to gain access to the basement: 1- Equip the guiding light ring that Bernard puts on the table and then go to the elevator and a new elevator button will show up 2- Search aroung the bookshelf on the top floor, there is a hidden lever that will only show up if you pass a perception check, that lever opens the secret door on the lower floor that leads to the basement

You don't need Misty Step or the like to get into the basement, that's more or less a bug/exploit that you're able to because you shouldn't have line of sight of the ground down there from where you were standing. The actual way to get into it is using a ring you can receive from Bernard, and casting the Light spell from it on the top floor. It reveals a secret elevator button that takes you down there. Note that its description literally says it's to access her basement.

Staff of arcane spell + the other item (i don't remember which now) that on heal gives blessing and you can do better bless without concentration on the entire team with just one group heal at the start of the combat and then every single time your cleric heals. I keep doing that from level 8 to the level 12.

You don't need misty step to get to the basement of the tower. All you need to do is quote the correct lines to the robot to get the guiding light ring to ride the lift to the basement.
