Even though line 1 has been over for just over 52 years now, it has a kind of old school charm, nostalgic trains and oddly enough, an unique odour that’s just so characteristic of this historic line! It’s also super well maintained and passes through many of Beijing’s most extravagant areas. A joy to ride always!

This puts NYC's system to shame! So clean, old and new @ the same time.

That is all new renovation. I remember in 2007-10 when it was dirty cars, broken floors, tiles falling off, dirty smut covered, dark with water puddles when it rained (rarely rained) or leaking pipes and no gates. I am happy to see it has been remodeled and it looks great now!! It does put NYC's to shame.

My old girlfriend lived in Tongzhou right off Li Yuan station. Miss those great times in Beijing back in 07. While riding the subway she would make me memorize and pronounce our next stop on the line.

The first station is so austere and gloomy. They should really improve the lighting, hide electrical cables, put escalators, and change the bell song when the subway is about to leave the station. I hope in 50 years not all subways in China will look like that. It doesn't sell me China world leader...

The second one is what we can except from a rich city like Beijing. The last station is very high standing at Seoul, Singapore level ☺️ Hope they can improve the old ones like this too. In this video is like I traveled from a depleted East Europe city to Taipei/Tokyo and to finish in Seoul/Singapore. Super video as always!
I went to Beijing once and this video brings back old memories of the day i went. Nothing seem to change much from the way the video is shown in respect from the last time I went.
