I'm reading What a Match this month as well-love that fall cover! Yellow Wife and Take My Hand are both difficult reads but so well done. I just recently read Kindred and wow - I thought it was so so good. Butler is an amazing author.

They seem to be some gems! I heard yellow wife was tough and I expect the same from take my hand but if I’m emotionally prepared, I think they will be received well by me. I’ve been really meaning to read Kindred for the longest! I know it’s gonna be incredible.

Yellow Wife is an awesome read, I read it earlier this year and loved it. If you love it and have not yet read House of Eve by her I definitely recommend that one. Kindred is awesome, I read it in two days, I have never read a book that fast before.

I have read House of Eve and I enjoyed it! I feel due for a historical fiction soon so Yellow Wife is highly anticipated. You make Kindred sound like it needs to move up the list too!

I need to get into Mimi Grace’s work and check out the country boy romance. 😍 If you enjoy Yellow Wife (I love that cover!) and Take My Hand, consider Wench x Dolen Perkins Valdez. Yellow Wife trumped Wench for me but if you’re in the mood for similar subject matter and emotional condition, I recommend it. I knew how disappointing The Other Black Girl was for many people but I had to read it because I wanted to watch the show. I wasn’t disappointed but indifferent. I enjoyed the show more but I do wonder if having read the book influenced my enjoyment. Bunny was a new reading experience for me. I was kind of agitated when I was done reading but I couldn’t get the book out of my head. The more I thought about it the more I realized I enjoyed it. I’ve been wanting to reread it! Such A Fun Age x Kiley Reid had me feeling a similar way. Looking forward to follow ups on the books. Thanks for sharing and happy reading!

The one book I read from Mimi Grace felt like in between urban romance and contemporary romance if that makes sense. I really like the experience. I am very much a sucker for a black country boy romance right now lol yes please. The cover for Yellow Wife is gorgeous! I know there’s some heavy subject matter but I definitely like to explore those kinds of stories every so often so I will add your recs to my list! I didn’t even realize it was a show! I think I halfway scraped off the Hulu sticker lol but yea it doesn’t seem to be fairing well with those who’ve read it but I’m still willing to read it and see for myself. I am actually intimidated to read Bunny. I got it for an out of my comfort zone book because I don’t know how the horror genre is gonna sit with me (I’m a scaredy cat lol) but I looove dark academia so I wanna give it a go. I did hear it was a bit weird/strange so that kinda intrigued me more. I have started chipping away at this TBR already (yay me!) so stay tuned for my thoughts! Thanks for your awesome comment :)

I read the Other Black Girl and it was mid. I gave it like 2.5. Endings are everything for me and the ending took such a weird turn. I wasn’t feeling it. I feel you on having any kind of series that don’t match. I had the first two books of The Glided Ones series but the third one is only out as a hardback. The guy at the store had the nerve to suggest having a mixture 👀 umm no thank you, I’ll wait for the paperback. I think the series you’re talking about actually has a kinda similar story/feel to the one I’m referring to. I would recommend The Gilded Ones and I wanna read the ones you have. The covers are stunning.

That’s what another book friend said about the Other Black Girl too 😩 boo. Well one teensy little peek won’t hurt lol I have it now. Yep, nope I’m not mixing either lol definitely waiting. I had a thought to pick up The Gilded Ones (and I probably will) but yea the last one being hardcover only has me putting it on the back burner for now.

@@AnitaLibrary I would definitely recommend Gilded Ones but also definitely wait till all 3 have paperback available. I mean since you already have Other Black Girl you might as well read it. It’s not so bad that I’d say don’t bother. Just don’t make it a priority. I heard it’s gonna be a show which is so weird to me.
