Looked it up, the DL is an independent organization (based in Switzerland) not owned by World Athletics, but WA is a minor investor. It licenses broadcasting rights to a company called Infront, who sublicenses out the broadcast rights to individual countries/regions. NBC wasn't willing to pony up the $$$ they wanted so Flotrack stepped in and signed a contract for DL rights in the USA. Note that NBC still owns broadcast rights to the Pre Classic, the Olympics, and a bunch of other track meets here in the USA, so Flotrack does not have a stranglehold on USA broadcasting. Still crappy that its a $30/mo subscription to watch those meets. Sorry Flotrack, but I'm not going to pony up the cash.

The annoying thing is this is only in the US and US territories - the very place the sport needs to grow the most. The Diamond League is only select events at each meet. Are they going to sell this as a season package or on a month-to-month basis? Or do they even know? It's very telling this is only in the US markets. Price gouging Americans.
