The sync feature seemed gimmicky but my word it looks amazing out on the road. I just learned about this product, not seen your channel before so don't know your background but for me only relatively recently starting cycling again (since I was a kid), actually the brake light function is the main reason I'd buy something like this. The first time I got out onto some busier roads I wasn't concerned about being in the thick of it, I'm used to that from motorcycling. But I was zooming along a bicycle path and felt nervous about other cyclists crashing into the back of me if I had to stop suddenly (maybe a car turning across my path without giving way properly). I can't understand cyclists who can't see the value in rear view mirrors or things like these newer rear braking lights that are coming out. Who cares if they look naff or add a few grams of weight, because sharing the road it's all our responsibilities to be observant and also to allow others to understand clearly what our intentions are. Anyway thanks for showing the light in action, especially good that you did the distance visibility test. Need to see how bright they are in daytime too and what the battery life is (lots of complaints about the Lezyne model with brake light function). They also need to be extremely reliable - I think my riding behaviour would change with one of these so they NEED to work 100% every time without delays - not most of the time.

I’m a long time bike messenger in nyc and I’ve tested out every flash pattern there is and cars give you the most distance and slow the most down with fast irregular flash patterns like with the Super flash Turbo by Planet Bike. They have the perfect flash pattern and brightness. The worst flash patterns where cars go fast by you and extremely close to you are constant on and also slow pulse. Fast slash is good but not to fast where it just looks like it’s constant on basically, the best is irregular flash pattern though.

can you only change de flash settings on the phone, or is there also a button on the light for that? How long does one charge last with all the settings on. How long does the battery last on each flash setting and different colors? If the battery has passed its 1000 charge cycles, how easy is it to repair or change the battery?

finally I eated a lot of reviews untill someone finally tested ambient light. Good job sir! I have some doubts though, how does it work the ambient light sensor? I mean it will auto start at night if you ahve the bike in the garage or something like that? if you manually turn the light on, will go off during bright day time?
@JourdainColeman
2 жыл бұрын
Glad to hear the review helped you make your decision 👍🏽 Good point about the ambient light sensor at night, I can't remember if there is a way around this. I feel like the light had an on/off. So you had options On - The light would come on automatically regardless of ambient light On with Ambient sensor - The light will only come on when ambient light is low enough Off - The light will never come on I can't remember exactly if this is true or not so do confirm with Shanren

Thanks Jourdain for a very well presented description /test of the light. Lots of thought has gone into making it with the app settings, battery life of 12 hours, max waterproof and even the lean angle of the fixing, I'm very impressed. I've paid double that for a rear light which just switches on and lasts 6 hours on highest setting, so half the price for twice the output. A couple of questions:- you said auto light, I like my light on all the time even on the sunniest days. I presume by the amount of features on the app it's just a setting that can be selected? If the light is brighter when braking, can that brightness be selected? The brighter the better imo. I've had a few close calls with cars coming out of junctions and carparks ie not seeing me. Do they make a front light??
@JourdainColeman
3 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott, glad you enjoyed the video, cheers for commenting. I was impressed with the extra features as well. it turns an already pretty decent light into an even better light. In answer to your questions... Auto light sensing can be turned on and off through the app. A simple one-button setting. You can see the option at 05:43 I'm not sure how much brighter the light is when braking but to give some context, I had the light on the highest setting. So all the footage you see of the light is on high. When braking the light went a fair bit brighter, enough to be noticeable for sure. I don't know the Lumen value though. Front light... Because you can change the LED colour to white I assumed that you can use this as a front light as well (I did do that when I went for a ride and it worked well, but I didn't include it as it's not specifically advertised as a front light). I'm also not sure how the extra features would work if it was used as a front light, but you could simply turn them off. Overall, pretty decent lights for the money 👍🏽
@scottmccann4509

I assume it's to alert your companion riders behind you? Personally it's another feature I'd just turn off. I don't want vehicle drivers (or other cyclists) to see disco lights, I want them to recognise that it's acting like a brake light, changing and drawing their attention only as required - else it's a case of the boy who cried wolf.

1k sub. Time for a Q&A? Who are you. Do you live in a bike shed? So many bikes. As for the light. That braking feature is NOT impressive. My my B&M light with that feature (Dynamo powered through) gets brighter (like a real brake light) when it detects braking (with the dynamo it is detecting a large drop in electrical current). The peloton feature where it links with other bikes sounds cool although benefits not clear. The ability to change the colour, if that’s a feature, sounds dangerous... At least it looks nice. Isn’t a rip off for a rechargeable rear light. The extra tech I would want though would be a camera. Although that would be more exciting if integrated into a front light.
@JourdainColeman
3 жыл бұрын
Thanks again... many people have supported me recently and helped me get over the 1k sub mark. 🙏🏾 A Q&A Video would not be a bad idea. I just need a way for people to ask me questions. As for the light, cheers for sharing your experiences with your Dynamo light ... it sounds pretty decent! I'm hoping to get my hands on the Miles GPS from the same company that made the light. This connects to the light so it can better detect deceleration. Hopefully, I'll be able to test it soon. Shenran also makes a small camera so maybe a light/camera combo is on their radar.
