This is a true classic from that era. You guys should also react to The Staples Singers 1972 song "I'll Take You There" . The group was composed of a father and his children. Also check out the group Honey Cone and their song "Stick Up" from 1971. Their song "Want Ads" came out first in 1971. Amber, you'll love Honey Cone. They're a girl group!

The power, range, and flexibility of her voice made Sarah Vaughan, known as "Sassy" or "The Divine One," one of the great singers in jazz. With her rich, controlled tone and vibrato, she could create astounding performances on jazz standards, often adding bop-oriented phrasing. One of her most memorable live performances is "Sarah Vaughan - Misty (Live from Sweden) Mercury Records 1964". It would be a perfect Female Friday song to react to.

I was 8 years old when this song came out. I had a transistor radio that had one “earbud” on a wire with an attachment that plugged into the phone. The radio had an antenna that I would stick out a small opening in the window when I’d ride in the car for family trips to the Jersey shore. This way I could listen to whatever I wanted on the radio. WABC was my favorite station (it was an east coast channel). And I LOVED “Rescue Me”. Her voice and that R & B sound mixed was simply irresistible. ❤️

Bass revealed to The New York Times in 1989 that her call-and-response vocals for this song weren't intentional. She recalled, "When we were recording that, I forgot some of the words. Back then, you didn't stop while the tape was running, and I remembered from the church what to do if you forget the words. I sang, 'Ummm, ummm, ummm,' and it worked out just fine."

Over here in the UK we call it Soul, Stax early Motown had a style. When both Mo and Stax toured Europe the artists couldn't believe the reactions. Especially in the UK. They saw black and white Youth sat together, dancing together. It really opened their eyes. In Germany and Sweden there were police in the side aisles to stop people dancing. Not here in the UK, it was enjoy yourselves.

You reacted to his duet with Amy Winehouse, but I'm not sure that you ever did a song with just him. His most well-known hit was probably "I Left my Heart in San Francisco" but really, anything he sings is fantastic. He never stopped singing and toured with Lady Gaga recently. His voice still held up like he had barely aged. RIP Tony, one of the last of the great crooners.
