Thank you for a great portrait if the village. I lived in Arundel Terrace at the top of the village 30 years ago and had forgotten how beautiful it was. Had some great times in the pubs especially at Christmas! Miss walking over to Dancing Ledge ...

Tx Robert. I was brought up in Langton and went to the village primary school. I've been to Dancing Ledge many times. It is a lovely part of the world which most of us don't realise until we leave. Tx for watching. Best wishes, Rob

I love Dorset and we used to holiday there, staying at my Uncle and Aunt's house when we were kids. We went back last year and called into see them both, who are still alive, stilling in the same house although, both very elderly now. Very enjoyable watch to be honest, cheers Alan

I'm so glad you found my channel so I could discover you also. I'm your new Subscriber. I've always been fascinated with architectural styles and how they vary around the world. These cottages are so lovely. That Cemetery looks like the headstones are incredibly old. All of the stone construction is great. Great quality video my friend.

Thanks TNR. This is the old cemetery so you are correct, all of the headstones are at least 50 years old, some much older. Tx for subscribing.

My family have been on holiday to Dorset for the last 10 yrs and I've just recently discovered through ancestry that I have a lot of ancestors from the county .My 7x great grandfather John Talbot 1717-1768 was born in Langton matravers, he was the MP for Marlborough, Thanks for sharing, hope to visit one day 😊👍

Hi Stokeoz. I'm pleased you found the vid interesting. I grew up in Langton Matravers and my parents and paternal grandparents are buried in the churchyard. There is a Facebook group called Purbeck Past. If you join that (say that you have ancestors in Langton) you will probably find that somebody will have some knowledge of your ancestors. All the best Rob

@@STOKEOZ1967 Good luck with it all. Also, have you seen this - www.familysearch.org This a site set up by the Mormons. I found that I am descended from William the Conqueror on here!

Cheers!, that's great , William the conqueror!, I've done lot research on ancestry uk recently and come up with the Mansels of margam, south Wales, the Talbots of Lacock abbey, Wiltshire, port talbot, was named after my 2nd cousin 8 x removed! Christopher rice mansel Talbot!, and same as your good self, the mansel family traced their family tree back to William the conqueror!, , also stephen fox- strangways the 1st earl of illchester , all related on my mother's side, I've managed to google a few gaps in family tree as a lot of those ancestors have portraits in national trust properties or use wikipedia and look back even further than I've imagined!😊👍👑

Thanks for watching the vid of Langton Matravers. I grew up in the village and attended the village school which shared a boundary with The Old Malthouse. In later years I worked in the Kings Arms and knew several of the Malthouse teachers who came in for a drink. I expect the village is full of holiday lets these days. Thanks again for watching abd best wishes, Rob

Tx Simon, you're absolutely right! This video was put together by Bill Bruce, who lives in the area. It looks as if he was concentrating on the other side of the road, with the houses and cemetery, and missed The Kings Arms. I agree - an unforgivable oversight 😀 I had more sessions in The Kings Arms when I was younger than I care to remember! Tx for watching and taking the time to comment, much appreciated. best wishes, Rob
