I used to live near Lea Hall station, just down the line from Adderley Park, and so passed through Adderley Park regularly when taking the train into New Street. Wheels was still open back then, and I sometimes saw karts on the race track. Hopefully, Birmingham City's proposed super stadium will breath new life into Adderley Park.

The stour line was built between 1834 and 1838. It was opened in 1838 as part of the London and Birmingham Railway. The Stour Valley Line you referred to is the line from Galton Junction to Stourbridge Junction. That was opened in 1854. Correct Adderley Park opened in 1860.

As fascinating as ever but I'm fairly sure that Adderley Park is on the route of the original London & Birmingham, before it headed into Curzon Street! By my reckoning, Adderley Park is the second least used station in Birmingham, after Bordesley, the area enjoying a much more frequent bus service which, given the short distance to the City Centre, are more popular with the locals, although the redevelopment plans may change things!

Now Birmingham Wheels has been sold down the river for a football stadium that probably won't happen, this station will either need flattening and a new one building or just ignoring in favour of Duddeston taking match day traffic, it's not fit for purpose But cross that bridge when it comes eh....

Thanks for reminding me of the one time I landed at this station. Got on at Northampton, changed at Coventry and on both occasions there wasn’t time to buy a ticket. Got told at Cov to “just get on mate and pay at the other end”. Fine by me but Adderley Park was deserted. Off I went on foot to see Birmingham v THFC. Got back to the same station after full time and still no staff apart from a maintenance man going to Cov to do his shift. I told him I’d not paid to which he replied “I’m a Spurs fan too so just get on and you’ll probably get away with it”. A train duly arrived but was absolutely rammed. The guy told me to follow him and we traveled back in the empty rear drivers cab at the back. I loved it. Got to Cov and the guy got me through a barrier onto the Northampton train. His departing words were “there’ll probably be no staff when you arrive back so you’ll get a freebie! Come on your Spurs!” I know the blokes name but will just say “thanks mate, you’re an absolute legend”!
