It is not possible to show all I did in a 1 minute short video and people make too many assumptions. I made this video to get some suggestions and at the same time while waiting for the comments (which I got within 2 hours) I researched what to feed it and how to feed it. After I filmed I started to prepair the hay nest to put the Black bunny and the baby in (black bunny is already a proven, good mother) I watched Black bunny closely for 5 minutes then decided to put the baby back where I found it. Black bunny was not showing signs of care. I found out that it is common for baby bunnies to venture off early and get picked off by weather and other animals. This video served its purpose and I was told to get goats milk or cats milk. I brought the baby inside and warmed it up. It was an hour long process where I basically had to place it on my warm skin and cover it up carefully. Once warm its movements became much worse and it could not eat. It fell into a coma and stopped by the next morning. I did keep it warm through the night. It was kept in a blanketed enclosure with bedding in a warm room.

I really messed up with this video. I see it looks bad as It ended without it going into a warm bed. The video gave me the answers I was looking for in the comments within a few hours but it did not get over 1,000 views until about a month later. Reading the comments taught me that I need to think more about what people might assume. I also question why this video got so many views. I would hope because it is me showing reality and truth, but I think it is because there are not many videos out there that show a baby rabbit not screaming. Now I assume that people are stressed out from work and school demands so I try to show peaceful rabbit interactions on the side. A lot of people out there seem to like to attack others, it is just adding to the overall stress.

This rabbit is much more likely to live a longer and more comfortable life especially because he’s alone. If they opt to eat rabbit after raising them they are farm or country folk. I had a simular situation. We had flooding rain that a baby bunny was curled up next to our home, weak and cold. I took it in, warmed a towel in the dryer and wrapped the baby in it. At a loss of foods to feed him, I gave him shredded carrots, lettuce, and other veggies. He regained its strength and perked up 100%. I waited a couple more days to set it free. It hopped off like nothing ever happened.

We really do have it good. It is all about having a climate controlled environment to live in. It really helps us live long lives. I tried camping outside in the winter and my lungs just can't handle breathing cold air. Animals want this good life too but they need to learn how to use the toilet. The best thing we can do for them if we have land is to make mini structures for them or at least simply let them be. Too many find pleasure using their guns on them and that loud noise scares off the hawks needed to keep them in check.

One of our cats roughed up a cottontail kit, like that one, and then brought it through the cat door into our kitchen. After seeing it, our chihuahua became very defensive and protected it from the cats, barking his head off. So we found the little guy, bleeding on the floor, and we took him to the vet. To make a long story short, he survived but had to have a bunch stitches, so we named him Stitches. We tried to release him but he had become too domesticated and reliant on us, which was our fault because we handled him too much, but he's done very well with us. He's free-roam in my wife's studio and has everything he needs, including a female dwarf lionhead partner, and he's enjoying life.

Read your comment and watched the video, but you had two options basically: 1. Get that baby out and let nature do it's thing or... 2. Adopt what looks to be an American Cottontail (I've made this mistake before) The issue was simple enough, you're gonna have to work really hard to get a domesticated rabbit to properly mother a wild rabbit. They're different species entirely. No harm either way, wild rabbits come and go and while it's natural to love such adorable little fellas- they repopulate fast for a reason. Future reference though, if you feel for the baby and want to raise it; you CAN release them at adulthood. Assuming your cottontail never stops being afraid of you and/or everything, it's still okay to be released.

No- 15 days is usually when mothers kick their babies out. Their ears will be down for the first few days and start to perk up eventually when they become more confident with their surroundings. @@hotbread1004 It wouldn’t be out of its nest if not , mothers don’t take their babies out ever unless if they need to be moved and if that’s the case she will carry them like how a mother cat carry’s her babies, Mothers will aggressively kick them out if they refuse to not move away from the nesting site. I can admit to taking small bunnies home from seeing them and yes they will let you pick them up. Their defense is to just huddle in a ball and stay silent and scream if held the wrong way. I’ve found a tiny bunny just like this in one of our wheat fields and I was able to raise it for a couple years , it was never shamed on keeping any animal you found during this time as it was around 2013? And I continued to collect bunnies from my mothers parents house as they had bunnies under their porch and I took them all home since the mother wasn’t going to them anymore as much and with this I raised them to be about almost 2 months old before releasing into our backyard. And we still have rabbits to this day and a mother who has her babies behind our house every year and I see her little ones run off all the time. I did think they needed milk but they really didn’t they won’t perk up and be aware until they understand their surroundings ^^ I’m sorry for the paragraph! I just wanna explain why I’m familiar with this type of stuff. I know it may seem like they wasn’t ready but if it’s hopping around on it’s own and searching for others rabbits it’s ready. Also bunnies won’t move at all with their eyes still being shut , this goes for hutch rabbits aswell! They will just sleep and lay there as if their eyes aren’t ready for the world their legs aren’t strong enough to move at all either! 🙃 I’m just saying if you find a bunny like this I just want people to know don’t give it milk just some green hay / grass and let it be alone in a dry area for awhile maybe like a box if you brought it inside! That’s all :)

I suppose I better say... The bunny was suffering from a 35f night before. I let it be out there all day and it never went into a hole anywhere. The forecast for the next 3 days was 30 F which is freezing. When I picked it up its ears were super cold which is likely why they were down, not because it was young, their ears are radiators designed to regulate their body temperature. It's eyes were open. It needed to be warmed up and fed and I immediately switched to the proper feeding device not shown in that other video. The rabbit did not eat and was in a choma like state after that second cold night in a heated house. It did not make it.
