Electronic tip for any electronic that gets wet! To dry out electronic boards. Open up the case (QUICKLY) don't let it sit. Remove the boards and batteries if you can. Some plastics may dissolve in alcohol. Do a test on the plastic case and covering on batteries first. If good. Submerge both in a bucket of (Denatured Alcohol) while shaking them vigorously to get the alcohol under all the components on the boards. Than let dry for 2 hours or blow them out with compress air. 👈🥸😎👍

Hi Guys, Love your channel! Glad you're back in the water, and adventuring. A word of advice from a retired (35 years) electronics tech. ALWAYS flush electronics that has been in salt water, with fresh. Remove the battery, if possible, and flush with Copious amounts of fresh water, as soon as possible after the immersion. Disassemble it as much as possible. Use a hair dryer, if available, or just let it dry out for several days. The salt water will certainly destroy it, so you really have nothing to lose by dowsing it in fresh. I have gone as far as putting equipment into a dishwasher. Good luck with your current travels. Calm seas, and following winds.

It is almost embarrassing to admit, but after finding you 4 months ago I just finished all 301 sailing videos (the last week, having covid, gave me a chance to power through a LOT of them). Not only that, but after telling someone this summer that sailboats scare me and that I had no interest at all, my mind has been changed, and I have convinced my husband that we need to retire early and get a boat. Lucky for me, he didn't look at me like I was totally crazy and we will be spending a week at the Seattle Boat Show in Feb. Anyway, thanks for being an inspiration and helping me look at life in a whole new way. :) I hope to see you on the water sometime in the next few years.

As a former SCUBA diver I always thought sea lettuce is a particularly pretty variety of marine algae. Because it does not have a root system or stem I think it has a more delicate appearance than other varieties of sea weed. It is also sometimes used as bait when targeting specific species of fish.

With electronics. forget the rice , you have to get rid of the salt, take it apart ! and get the battery out/disconnected rinse the electronics with fresh or better distilled water, rinse out the inside of the motors as well. Shake/dab/blow off the rinseing water , dry with warm air, whatever you have fan heater , hair dryer. Look for corrosion where battery and motors connect to board, sometimes you can rescue stuff by cleaning corrosion that is shorting out contacts/conductor traces.

Assume you guys know this and tried, but DJI corrupt files can often be recovered, they just need finalized, which didn't happen when it went into the water. What often works is stick the card back in, cycle it, and take a short recording (I'd assume another DJI drone can do it if that one is toast). There's also some crowd sourced freeware out there that can do it but not as simple. I don't have those links offhand but found them via Reddit I think.

#drone Hey guys here is some tips on what to do if your drone goes in to water. Some of these tips are obvious. please do not criticize. 1. Unplug battery. Some articles suggest to unplug while still in water before taking it out of the water. 2. Do not turn on the drone 3. Do not put in rice. 4. If can take apart the drone 5. If drove falls in saltwater use Isopropyl alcohol to rinse the salt water off it 6. If do not have Isopropyl alcohol use fresh water to rinse off. 7. Remove as much water out of the drone 8. Let the drone dry at least 48 to 72 hours 9. test after that amount of time and keep fingers cross. Best of luck guys and happy you are all safe. Sidney

I don't know if they make one that floats but they need to.Maybe an attachment type float as it would be a disaster to loose it way out at sea. Tie a fender to it in rough weather?
