it's a great idea to "embrace the cold". It makes cold winters so much more enjoyable :) And you even start looking forward to it! All you need is a good coat, boots, gloves and toque, and nice wintery activities :) Great video, loved seeing Winnipeg from a local's eyes! A little minor correction that might be annoying:P The term French-Canadian is soooo vast! It could be Franco-Manitoban, Acadian, Fransaskois (Saskatchewan) There are so many Francophones in Canada so yeah, poutine is specifically Québecois, not French-Canadian ;-) (not that I'm THAT proud of it haha)
@TheNewTravel
5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Gab! Or is it Maya? Wow Fransaskois is a term I have actually never heard before! I used French-Canadian more to keep it simple for Americans and Mexicans who are watching. But you are quite right to distinguish between the different groups we have! Are you in Quebec at the moment? I hope you are having fun "embracing the cold" :)
@GabMayaBackpackingNomads
5 жыл бұрын
@@TheNewTravel It's Maya :) I totally understand how it's simpler for viewers, poutine is more known as "French Canadian" anyways ;-) We're in Québec until mid-January! Heading toward the Mediterranean/Middle Eastern region of the world :) We've had pretty cold days going down to -30... CRAZY. Are you planning to stay in Canada for a while?

The New Travel Back in 2000, end of November, my first winter in Canada, in Calgary, the temperature was in the high -20’s but the wind chill at -48°C. I’ll never forget leaving Superatore, the doors open and after passing that wall of hot air, there it was the cold air that felt like suddenly a piece of cold metal stuck up to my forehead! That’s my experience with the coldest temperature I’d ever had. Today there’s a Chinook in Calgary so it’s 2°C but a little bit windy so it feels like 0° and cloudy because of the Chinook arch.

This is so cool. I've never been to Canada and have wanted to go forever, it seems. And all the better that you are in the middle of the country, not East as inToronto, or West like Vancouver, b/c those places get so much attention. You are almost directly north of me in Dallas. You get 4-5 months of winter while we get 4-5 months of summer, which I hate. I'd rather have winter. It's so cool to see Nari there. I was amazed at the size of that apartment complex behind Nari in the shot of her from South Korea. That is massive. I would love to see as much of Canada as you can give us. Have you ever been to Lake Winnipeg and some of the parks around it? It looks huge. Of course we will miss Nari. Merry Christmas to you, Nari. I hope you're reading this! Have a wonderful time with your family, and hurry back ;-))
