Tom Baker you are a bloody champion. Your reviews are honest and I appreciate the time and detail you spend on analysing vehicle interiors such as this review. Considering so much time is spent in the cabin, most reviewers brush over this important topic. Creaky plastics are totally unacceptable for cars in this price range. Paul Maric could learn a thing or two from your videos regarding interior build quality review. I had an F30 330i and the interior build quality was so bad I had to sell the car!

Good on you for calling out the rubbish fit and finish in the interior which going by yours and others reviews have been an issue for a few years now. How they can charge almost 150K for a car that rattles like a tin can is just terrible. Then you have the massive depreciation ..No thanks..

1000% agree with you Tom, the rattling and squicky sounds in the cabin is unacceptable. Utter rubbish qualty standards by Mercedes. When washing our 2021 glc63s and W204 CDI250, the lack of build quality becomes quite apparent. @MercedesBenz

Wait until you have to keep fixing the BMW problems see which is more expensive then lol. Plus you can’t tell me you sit in the BMW and think it’s better than sitting in the Merc. I understand Mercedes have things to fix such as steering wheel functions and quality seems to of been downgraded but compared to BMW and Audi I’ll always pick Merc.

@@tmchristmas If we're talking brand new; 40i is around 15k cheaper, its around 400 hp and its plenty for most people. X3M also sacrifies alot of comfort for performance which alot of people in that segment doesnt really care for or like. X3M is for now discontinued and the top model will continue being X3 M50 (wierdly it has no i in its full name) because X3M sales figures were bad.

I have a 2022 A45sAMG and a new GLC43AMG both with the same motor. These motors are crammed with F1 tech, hence they are very quick (3.8 second's to 100ks in the A45s and 4.75 to 100ks in the GLC43), so why do you need a V8 except for the noise. The GLC43 has an electrified turbo, which keeps it spinning when the revs are down, hence helping to eliminate turbo lag. I would have liked to hear more about the features the GLC has, both under the bonnet and inside, like the amazing MBUX system, also the fact that it has rear wheel steering. I don't know what you are taking about when it comes to" creeks and rattles". Our GLC has none and I didn't hear any when you were driving. If you push the #$%^ out of any new dash, you will get a noise. Don't agree with not going for the carbon fibre package as it looks far better than the standard dash (which I think is ugly). The standard seats with red inserts is the way to go. Don't need the racing seat or package, waste of money. Also the black is the best looking colour in this model, hate the silver. Just my opinion as a owner of a new GLC.
@vikram5491

Dude, it's not F1 tech. It's F1 inspired. The electronic turbos they actually use in Mercs F1 engines are nothing close to what ends up in their road cars. Everything from it's architecture to the materials & technology are all different. It's just a similar idea. They use the term F1 tech to just sell cars to people. If they really used F1 tech, these cars would cost around a Million dollars.

@@vikram5491 Just words - F1 inspired, using F1 Technology, you can't believe I meant actual F1 equipment. Though I did read that they use the same 'slippery bore' system as used in F1. These engines are very complex, "inspired by F1 advances" hence being able to pump out 416hp from the GLC and 423hp from the A45s

Sorry; but a new model ever 3 minutes from Mercedes demonstrates how ridiculous the brand has become. Remember in the 1980s when they resisted these largely cosmetic updates? And yes, "haters" I cannot afford one, so don't bother with that retort. If only I had a time machine; I'd go back in time and buy a 190E (or a 280SL if I could go back to 1968).

This is one of the best reviews I have seen! Superb! I have run a 2018 43 AMG since new and now have 70K km on the clock so will be in the market next year for a new one. We have loved this car as we live in the Swiss Alps and the versatility (skies on the roof and bikes behind) has been amazing. We have big winter and summer tires and the car is safe and comfortable. I have liked the engine very much even though it has not been actually made by AMG but I always felt the gearbox was 2nd grade (compared to my P 911). This review makes me a bit worried as the engine is downgraded and the gearbox is unchanged... I think the advice is good to wait for six months to see what they come up with.

We have had a 2019 GLC43 AMG which we also loved. There were no" rattles or squeaks" after 51,000klms. We have traded it in for a 2024 GLC43 AMG and LOVE it! The interior is amazing. Because the reviewer pushes on some dash bits till they make a noise doesn't mean they the rattle. The engine is great, not downgraded but advanced, even more power than the V6.The new GLC incorporates a 48V mild hybrid, which adds a few more kilowatts. The exhaust note gives a lovely crackle. Don't be put off by the outdated BMW X3 fans. You will not be disappointed.

Could not agree more with the commentary on cabin build, the joy of owning and driving a 2021 GLC 43 AMG is consistently undermined by the squeaks, rattles and vibrations from the dash and doors. Tom makes the point that quality cabin build is an entry level requirement for a lux brand, does @MercedesBenz have a response to this?
