Your channel is pure gold! Thank you for sharing so much quality content! I'm a Nuendo user as well, but Reaper's sub project thing is something I wish Nuendo had. Probably would have saved me quite some time during the latest podcast production sessions.

You and I both hope they add sub projects to Nuendo. Really hoping the Boom team and the Audio Kinetic team adds Nuendo support soon as well. While Reaper is free and easy to access for everyone, I'd personally have an easier time navigating a Nuendo project.

@@AftertouchAudio yeah, the demo is just like the version in your video but with smaller amount of sounds. But it' still very very useful and i learned a lot.

Hi Tyler! Thanks for this overview; I've been debating getting this for quite some time. I would only get it for educational purposes though and wouldn't be using the sounds for anything, that's why I'm hesitating. Unfortunately the Enrage license expires after the subscription but it's still tempting with the early bird discount. From what you've seen in the projects so far, do you think it's worth it simply for the sessions alone?

That is exactly how I am using Strata. The sounds that come with the libraries are useful and I've been using a few of them in my projects but really I'm using Strata as a self education tool. With the Enrage quorum, yes the licence is removed if you stop your subscription but just remember Enrage is just at its heart a plugin that hosts a bunch of effects. If you have the FabFilter Bundle for example, you can still apply what you learn from studying the Enrage Presets and build the same (Or better) plugin chain using other plugins. I've learned lots from just my short week and a bit using Strata, now just take what you learned from Strata and apply them to your own sounds and you'll should see dramatic improvements in your sound design journey.

@@AftertouchAudio Yes, this sounds actually really good. :) Do you know if all the sounds have been designed by the Boom Library sound designers? I know that they recorded the source sounds but I'm not sure if they are also the ones who created all the designed sounds (and couldn't really find any precise information on this).

@@NGTVST So your question is formatted in a way that makes it a little difficult to answer, but I'll do my best. Boom Library, like most Sound Design companies, contracts out Sound Designers and Recordists, to record, design, mix, and master their sounds, as well as do all the above-mentioned tasks themselves. While I can't verify that the "Historical Firearms" library is 100% done by in-house sound designers and recordists I can confidently say that all sounds that are included in these packs are quality checked by Boom Library and Audio Kinetic and anything that was not up to standard did not make it in the pack. Take their Tanks library and Grip plugin, These libraries were done by Boom, in collaboration with Pole Position Productions so not 100% Boom, but the quality is controlled by Boom and their collaborators as it is their release. Or take their Quiet Planit collection, which was a production done by Gordon Hempton and is just hosted on Boom Libraries Website as that library demonstrated exceptional quality. In short, you have 2 developers currently involved in Strata which is Boom Library and Audiokinetic (Creature Humanoid, Creature, Explosions, Creature Movement, etc is all done by Boom, where Aircraft, Footsteps, and some of the UI stuff is a collaboration between Boom and Audiokinetic just like Tanks and Grip, or Quiet Planet). But yes, if all sounds are not done by Boom, they are 100% quality checked by Boom and Audiokinetic, and anything that was not up to the standard that Boom or Audiokinetic set did not make it into the collection. Pheeeeuw, I hope that helped.

@@AftertouchAudio Thanks for the elaborate answer. :) I was wondering if everything included is "Boom quality" - but as you describe it, that seems to be the case. :)

I have a really random question, but I've been checking out the videos to create great explosions and gun shots based off of good samples. But I was wondering, what about weapon foley? Like if you have good sample recordings of weapon foley like magazine ejecting, or bolt pull and much more. Is there any layering involved in this case as well or any processing, and how would you go about it? I assume it to be a slightly different process since I think the foley sounds come out more complete so to speak, but wanted to know if there was anything extra these AAA game studios did to maximize the quality of the sounds when it came to foley like that. Sorry for the long comment, maybe its a future video!
@AftertouchAudio

Processing the foley to get it louder is good, though you can layer a sequence together and with cloth. I do prefer to keep those elements separate though.

There is a timing, it will drive you switch to Reaper finally, you are now hesitating just because you havn't meet the timing yet For honest speaking, for GAME audio designer there is no other DAW better than Reaper, especially if you are able to write some scripts, it will save your a** in some cases.
