Aadu Paambe, Bharatanatyam snake dance, Punnagavarali raga, Adi talam. Choreographed by Sonam Vora, Dancers Tanisha Verma, Tanya Goswami and Sonam Vora perform this Indian classical dance piece that has been popular for decades in Bharatanatyam stage performances, in movies and music concerts. Composed by Pambatti Siddhar, the music for this piece was created by IndianRaga Fellows Vinod Krishnan, Akshay Anantapadmanabhan, Akash Gururaja, Mahesh Raghvan and Vivek Ramanan.
Aadu Pambe describes the Cobra that adorns Shiva's head, protects Lord Krishna serving as an umbrella over his head, and which adorns Goddess Parvati's wrist as a bangle. The mesmerising song and flexible movements of the dancers are expressions of appeal to the cobra to uncoil and rise, a metaphor for latent female energy, the Kundalini energy, believed to lie coiled at the base of the spine.
