Saqib has done this role very intensely. No doubt he is a good actor. He should not degrade himself by taking some meaningless roles in films. He himself has raised bar of excellence by his own acting in his previous work too....All the best to the team....for such a wonderful artwork.

As a foreigner watching this short film makes me appreciate not only the beauty of this dance form but the depth it is ingrained in the Indian culture. I hope more boys/men today will break the taboo of thinking this type of classical dance is only appropriate for one gender.
@tanuhald

The adult son's thoughts when he first opened his ghungroo box are exactly what I, as a girl, think of now whenever I see my dance class bag..... and it's less than a year that I've fully completed my kathak course. Dance is that universal, that relatable. The problems the guy went through are what makes many boys hesitate from learning classical forms. It's not that they themselves hate or are offended by it, it's the prejudice and offense shallow-minded society inflicts that causes male classical dancers a rarity. Shame. In the era of feminism being synonymous to gender equality, sometimes guys need their liberty too.

I personally have never learnt dance. My Didi is a Kathak dancer. As long as I remember she has been dancing forever. Her journey with Kathak has been more than 20 years. And I, being just a spectator of her performance, am moved by everything. From a very young age I am able to recite Taal along her movements. And to the society which stereotypes classical dance form, they'll never understand what impact it has on people. Art, that is any art form, develops a person. Teaches us love, sorrow, happiness, wonderment. Kudos to your comment. I really respect and agree with what you have said.

What pulls the heartstrings in this film is the feeling of regret, possible regret of not apologising to a loved one, not communicating our deepest emotions to people we love before they're out of our lives. Regret is powerful, and for some of us it's too late to make peace with our shortcomings. This film leaves you with the feeling to make the most of your relationships and live in the moment. Be present. Keep up the good work TTT.

I happen to see this video after a year of its release and I can't stop crying because my father died couple of months ago. I came back home to visit my ailing father.. he held my hand in the hospital stared at me for 5mins and then he died in my arms. And now everything related to him.. his sayings his laughter... his smile.. his face.. his persona... His ethics.. the manner he spoke in with people... His big heart... everything .... I wish he were alive ... No one can fill his void...

an eye opener for those who think that it is disgraceful for boys to learn classical dance forms. When boys learn hip hop people don't judge them. but why when a boy attempt to learn Indian classical we always mock them. It is our culture don't forget.

Touching, well filmed, and the dance was powerful and beautiful. It was a cultural legacy passed down for generations. To perform for his father was the most heart-melting scene in the film. I could never break my father's heart. Not after all he has done for me and for how much he loves me. I was glad to see he didn't let him down.

This one is a masterpiece! It shows so much about how suffocating the society is. Also, it shows the impact of forcing something into a child. Dance being an art, will come to a person who has compassion and true yearning to learn it. And the society wrecks every choice of a person and force us to be someone to go according to their norms. Then there comes the child who does a mistakes which become the greatest regret of the past. Parents in the end feel the same pain too. The voice of and power of choice should be strong and immense. Be it a child or a parent. Respecting their choice is every human`s duty.

A good film indeed. I assume it tries to portray the child as a wrong doer and the parent as a good man who wanted his son to become a Kathak dancer. I feel the other side of it too. A father should not have pushed his son to learn something which he does not like. Just because some form of art has been inherited for the last few generations, does not mean that the current generation needs to embrace it too. Of course they can, but it should come from the heart and mind. Not imposed upon. This been the prime reason for the distance between the father and son.The western dance has been portrayed as if its worthless in front of Bharathanatyam.A real Guru should have acceptance to all forms of dances, being Indian or Western. The child did perform nicely. Father bribing the son by promising a Rs.100 reward is not correct too. This is a wrong lesson right at home. I am sure that such gaps between father and son are dying out slowly but it does exist in bits and pieces.

The film is very good indeed and I do not really think it potrays child as the wrong doer. It beautifully shows both the sides of the story, a child who is feeling imposed by something he doesnt want to do in fear of what his friends will think about him and a father who wants to pass his skill to his son. Sometimes stories are not about right and wrong, it is to potray how human emotions play their role and these emotions can be dark and bright both .. towards the end we see the son giving a spectacular performance in front of his father, this doesn't mean he was wrong as a child... if anything it shows his maturity as an adult to be able to do something so simple but so extraordinary in the last moments of his father... Sometimes it is okay to do something just for sake of the others....

You guys have so beautifully illustrated the love between a father and a son, and discovered that art is unbound to caste, creed, sex or religion. I am a Kathak dancer and I never witnessed any boy dancing, kathak because that's a -(Ladkiyon wala dance). This story would at least bring 0.01% change in those provincial minds who always categorise art, instead of understanding the purity and litheness.- Cheers to TTT :)
