@@Theasworld1984 : That Banister Thea, in the main, lobby; Dear God, how can anybody with an ounce of taste and heart destroy that?! It's stunning! Far better than anything being pumped out today. This is why I get so, damn, angry when I see these things, knowing this kind of beauty is being destroyed and replaced with bland, tasteless, characterless, crap. I mean, who wouldn't? Mold has not effected this. This is in mint condition, and I'm sure there are those out there, who would dearly, love to have something like this for their place. As with so much of the other, vintage things in these places, that clearly, are in mint condition. Destroying the house itself, may one thing - I don't agree with that either - but destroying all this wonderful, vintage, beauty inside the place, that is clearly, in mint condition, is utterly, inexcusable as far as I'm concerned. So completely, with you Darling. I'm as angry as all hell, here, right now, and almost, in tears. This place was an absolute, gem of a place AS IS, and no one in their right mind should have EVER, considered destroying it. Places like this are becoming fewer and fewer all the time, which makes it all the more important to PRESERVE, the precious little we still have. And like you, I'm convinced that what they will replace this place with, if they have not already, will not be anywhere NEAR, as beautiful, warm, and charming as this place was. NOT NEAR!! And that's the sick, stupid, tasteless, boring, trends of today; destroy something that has some REAL, warmth, taste, character and charm and replace it with tasteless, dead, drab, dry, boring, SHIT!! Because that's all today's design trends are; complete, tasteless, dead, dry, boring, SHIT!!, right across the board. We've had two, full, decades of this garbage now, and I so, so, hope to God, it starts to change around, soon. This was a tragedy. An absolute, tragedy, there is no other way of looking at it. You know Ethan, I want to cry here, again, now, because everything may be "retro" in this place, but there is not a god, damn, thing here, that is the least bet UGLY, AT ALL! This is an absolutely, stunning place, and that main, staircase is BEYOND, beautiful with that gorgeous chandelier hanging down the center. But I can clearly, see that no one cares for that, by the careless and hateful way they are tearing the place apart, even, before they begin the demolishion. You know, I would not be able to do what you are doing with these videos, as I would seriously, have to go off somewhere, and cry knowing such beauty is no longer valued and going to be destroyed, and replaced with crap, not a damn sight better. Also, I think the carpeting would be considered more plush than shag. Shag carpeting was twice as long as this and insanely, difficult to keep clean. One thing from the 70s I'm quite OK with never returning. But ya, another gem here, that never, ever, should be destroyed. It's making me hate people today, and their damn, stupid, taste. Sorry. PS: It's a damn, fine, awesome place Ethan, every, last, damn, bet of it. I am truly, very, very, upset here now, knowing all this has been destroyed. Finding it hard not to cry here, because if I had money and was wealthy myself, THIS, would be a DREAM HOME, for me JUST AS IT IS!! I have true, anger and resentment that others could not see the beauty in this place and want to preserve it. And tell me, what's gone up in its place? Something that is complete, bland, boring, dead, dry, characterless, SHIT, I bet the damn, as sure as I'm here, typing this. Fucking, stupid, tasteless, world we live in today. But when you say "updated," Dawn, what do you mean? I cringe every time I see somebody post something like that, because I know what it usually, means. The vintage look is the VERY THING, that MAKES, it beautiful. Maybe, remove the carpeting and brighten but not change, some of the colours here and there, and that is ALL, that needed to be done with this place. Minor tweaks here and there, at best. Right now, I don't have the words for the level of anger in me that a place like this was destroyed. I hate this damn, world and the damn, stupid, tasteless, taste that have taken it over. We are destroying beauty, character and charm everywhere, and replacing it with tasteless, boring, bland, shit and I wish to God, it would stop. Ivan J. Conway As someone who owns a “vintage” house from 1964, I know first hand that it takes a literal assload of money to repair/replace the clay pipes that are full of roots, the wiring that has been Jerry rigged for 40 Years, the black mold from years of neglected water damage, mitigating the radon in the basement, a poorly executed foundation etc., etc. The list goes on and on. Asbestos is a huge danger if you stir it up and inhale it into your lungs. Use your head. Ever watch the money pit? I do agree with you that modern tastes are incredibly bland, but dealing with a house from that period that clearly needs so much work is foolish. Who has that kind of money? You?

They were installing intercoms in homes all the way till the late 90s. Cell phones were a thing, but even in the late 90s calling plans were pretty expensive. My house was built in 1991, (not the original owner), but our intercoms look pretty modern. I couldn’t find a manufacture date on any of the them though. So they may be 21st century replacements, or late 90s. We have one room that has TWO intercoms. It wasn’t until we pulled up the carpeting that we discovered why. The room used to be two smaller rooms.

wow what a shame they knocked down this awesome looking house and yes the older homes i've seen have so much more character then today's homes! they need to save those wall chandeliers and re wire them! love that spiral stair case and wow that basement did not even look like one!

It just really sucks that all of the houses that were built back in the day with absolute solid workmanship are just being bulldozed! What a complete waste. Especially of resources and really good Construction.

Amber Meredith it’s disgusting to have rugs in a Kitchen and Bathroom, don’t know what the owners of the house was thinking, it’s gross. Then to complete my house got full of mold everywhere cause of all that moist in the kitchen n bathroom..
