Nice! I had a 1985 ramcharger bought new that we used to haul things and plow snow with on the farm for over 20 years. Road salt rust issues finally made us park it....wish we took better care of it back then it was one reliable truck. Well, besides the ''Kmart'' Mopar ignition modules that like to go out. hahaha Distributor cap placement sucks on these too because rain gets on it though the hood vents and causes it to run crappy in the rain and corrode the cap and rotor. We put a rain shield over it made out of aluminum and it helped a lot. But that's what's nice about old ones...you can always prepare ahead for the few things that can fail on them and they're easy to maintain. New vehicles are too complicated for the average guy to work on and prepare for failures. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for sharing your story! My first "reliable" vehicle was an 1987 Ramcharger, so this thing brings back some memories! And I agree, older vehicles are definitely more simple to work on in most cases.

It seems to be a pretty rare combo with the V8 per a group on Facebook. I didn't know they came that way until I found this one

I love the old Ramcharger had a few of them had a 1973, 1977, even had a plymouth trailduster it's the same thing as the ramcharger just with a Plymouth badge but I liked my 73 the whole top and back came off in one piece so it was great for the summer time driving around all of them had 318 or 360's except the 77 I had it had a big block 400 in it the thing was awesome for pulling my big boat it was like the boat was not there but anyway That's a cool old truck can't wait to see what you do do it get it back on the road.

They're pretty neat and the 73 half doors are the holy grail of this things. I have a few more things to do on this one. I hope to get the top off at least once this summer. Thanks for the kind words!

Wow your Mrs. must be really understanding or you live alone. Parking that thing on the back porch would not go over well at my house. I'm already getting crap about my project truck in the driveway, a 1988 Ford F250 diesel pickup. I've swapped the motor and I have to put a new torque convertor in it to make it road ready.

Bought an 85 in 2020 with a 360 I was going to restore but all that followed was bad luck the person before me screwed up the whole ignition system couldn't get anyone to wire it right the initial guy, I wanted to work on it shut his shop down the day before I brought it to him ended up selling it. That's okay I always wanted a 78-79 model anyway which I'm now back in the hunt for call it my Bama Ram the General Lee of Alabama.

@@greggwalker9375 Ah I know what you are talking about now! If i didn't see strong spark from the coil wire, I would of wound up replacing this I think. But since i saw spark at the coil and not at the plug I was thinking rotor or cap. Thanks for the heads up though!

So is it automatic or manual ? Because I just bought one a few days ago and mines has the automatic lever and is 4x4 but doesn't have clutch pedal

This one was a 3 speed manual column shift. So it has a clutch and you shifted 1/2/3/R on the column. Also known as "3 on the tree"
