Wonderful video. Lots of memories at this place. I was on armourer on 431MU (1987-1990) Lived in Roermond. Spent lots of time between here and 3BAD Bracht. Used to enjoy racing a car for Bruggen RallyX club. Brilliant memories for the whole family. Bruggen was one of my favourite tours for sure. Thank you for uploading this video. 👍

Wow, wow, wow! I spent 8 years at RAF Brüggen (1983-86 and 1987-92), as a technician in the Royal Air Force, so this brings back some great memories, of a place and country I hold dear, thank you!! Most of my time was spent on the other side of the airfield, in what was known as 431 Maintenance Unit, which used to run up to the perimeter fence on the Elmpt - Roermond road, so it would be wonderful if you could film that side as well?? Equally, all the accommodation, offices and services such as shop, cinema, bowling alley and swimming pool were on that side, so anyone who served at RAF Brüggen would know that area irrespective of where they worked on camp. Thank you again, and I do hope you can film the camp some more! Vielen Danke!!

As a soldier based at Rheindahlen, and living in Roermond, I was a member of the Gliding club, 1964 to 1969. Spent many a happy hour on the airfield, living in the Transit block and stealing RAF breakfasts, but it has changed a lot due to „new“ buildings and redevelopment since its Canberra days.

Wonderful video. I spent nearly 12 years at RAF Bruggen, 3 years on 31 Sqn, a few of years on the station and nearly 6 years on 14 Sqn which is the site featured at the start and most of this amazing video. Brought back some very happy memories of a very important part of my life. Thank you for making it and sharing.

Initially a little reluctant when my posting came out of the blue, after buying my first house in the UK and after only a year out of training. I wouldn't have changed my experience for the world, I was there when the Wall fell and at the start of the Gulf War. At the SWO's brief, noticed the faded emblem on the back of the seats in PSF, around the main table and discovered some history about the site. I was meant to go to 9 Sqn but ended up in the PAC, would have liked to returned, but the place was doomed once the wall fell. Remember the Ferrari F40 race down the runway against the Tornado. Loved Monchengladbach and especially Roermond. More footage please.

I was stationed in The Netherlands. For 3 years I ran in Wednesday RAFG/BAOR cross country league. Brugge also held the annual Bruggen 10 mile road race. A good fast race with the top 25 usually under 53 minutes. Plenty of good runners came over from UK stations. Happy days, I’m 63 now.

@@ISO_consultants I guess my dad was probably a bit before your time. We left in 1970. I do remember going into the shed as late as 1999 and finding pictures of my parents in photo albums. It was all a bit of a mess. I flew with the Phoenix a few times in about 1984 and taking over the winch from Gp Captain John Allison, later ACM Sir John, who was the Station Commander at Wildenrath. He was mainly there so his sons could glide; one of whom is James Allison of Mercedes F1. Like you said, it was a great place. I walked out to an aeroplane at Barkston Heath last week and for the first time in ages heard the sound of Skylarks; it just transported me back to being at Brueggen. Fabulous.

It would be nice to see more of the other side of the base, but maybe that is not allowed as I believe the accommodation is being used. I first arrived at Bruggen in 1953 as a small child and spent 5 very happy years there. My parents forged friendships with some people in the local community which made our stay so rewarding. I returned with my own family in the 80s and enjoyed a further 4 years. Ich hatte so viel Glück.
