Started work at 16 in 1986 as a mechanic /body repairer (38 years ago)i used to go there regular with my boss ,he would buy insurance damaged repairable cars & vans & some of the parts to repair them as a source of work for us when the garage was less busy or we would repair them after hours, was mainly mk 2 fiestas mk3/4 escorts, mk2 astras, the owner built & competed in his own rally car that he built there,it was a busy yard back then.

When i was a younger man, i used to spend hours in yards like this. Back then, the cars were justifiably scrapped, because they were absolutely rotten. Now I see perfectly usable vehicles that are only there because they failed mot's on emissions. What a waste... 😢😢

Just the land alone is a gold mine Plenty of scrap there to weigh in too The owner got some good choices there. Either continue to run the yard for himself ,and get steady income 👍 Then upon retirement sell land and retire happy 👍👍

This site is illegal nowadays. Needs concrete floor on entire site to stop leeching of harmfull chemicals into the ground. You seem to have a nack for finding gems.

The loss of yards like this is indicative of how this country has gone. People who make and enforce the rules have no idea how important places like these were to working class people trying to get by. Like all the pubs and local shops which have gone, they were all part of a community which has been dismantled for the benefit of a few in the upper classes of society. Its sad how such an industrious nation has been sanitised and ruined.

@marcushenno That's happening everywhere. Industrial estates that are half occupied, then they build another, next to it on green fields. No rhyme nor reason, just that the land owner gets a hefty bank balance for selling the land, which means they don't have to struggle to farm it any more. It'll get to a point where there isn't enough land to cultivate to provide food for everyone, so we'll have to import basics at great expense. A fast buck is only a short term thing.....just look at the mess we are in now, after Thatcher and her government thought it a good idea to sell off the public services etc, to temporarily make the government's coffers look good. I rest my case, m'lud!
