These places just go to show that no matter how fancy your gravesite may be and the money spent to lay you to rest there the laws of nature and weather can remove all traces of your existence over time. Everything and everyone over time. fades away. We're all like raindrops, while we exist we are of importance to the growth and nurturing of others, once we are reabsorbed by the earth we no longer matter to the living. They wait for the next rainfall to get what they need to survive. People like you still see their value to life and know that to someone somewhere they are still important. Maybe people need people like you to remind them that their loved ones whether they died 100 years ago or yesterday still matter. Without them, none of us would exist.

I used to work for the prison system. We used to send inmates out under supervision and clean the neglected cemeteries, as long as a nonprofit or a government agency was responsible for it. Only thing they have to do is just ask. Inmates don't have a problem working, it makes their time go by fast.

I always find it so sad when cemeteries get to this disrepair. It's gut wrenching. I realize many of these graves are old, but if we can keep up Arlington and Gettysburg, there's no reason why the Army Corp. of engineers or some organization can't up keep this cemetery and others like it. Years and years ago (early 90s) when I lived in Denver, we took a drive to Georgetown and decided to look around that same cemetery. There are a lot of children’s graves and many sunken graves. It was so full that it was difficult not to accidentally step on someone or break an ankle. The sun was going down. If you think it’s creepy during the day, you should see it at night. Back in the early 1900 and the last half of the 1800, Georgetown was a mining town that probably had one doctor and one or two midwives, if that. With the high elevation, the winters were probably devastating. Without vaccines(measles, polio, etc.), pre & postnatal care, surgical procedures (something that is commonplace now was deadly then, ie., appendicitis).

I have always liked looking at the real old graves like from the 1800's and early 1900's so it was very cool to see the abandoned cemetery in Colorado video. One of the graves u stopped at was a mother and her 3 children that died in the 1800's . They probably all died from some kind of illness. Back then they didn't have the medical treatments that we have today. Your videos are great. Keep them coming.

7:20 It was just a fact of life up until 20th century medicine began taking effect that lots of children died very young in those days of maladies that today would have been easily survivable, but with their scant palliatives were not. Even if it was common place, I'm sure it must have been traumatic for the mother, especially with no medication to help her deal with the loss. My mother was the youngest of seven siblings born between 1887 and 1902 and two died in infancy before the seven who survived.

With as old as it is and the stories of some of the dead I wouldn't doubt it.That one your in looks a tad on the spooky side. How on earth do they move graves that have no vaults. My grandpa died when my dad was 13 yrs. old in the 1940’s. He requested to not be embalmed and no vault(casket only). He told me his mom would make him go to his dads grave(family cemetery on their property)to add dirt to the top cause it sunk in as they all do, when there’s no vault used. But in the early 1900’s I don’t think there was such thing as vaults for caskets.
