The money wasn't disposable up until around the Clinton era planes and helicopters were every where for pennies I have 2 Sikorsky H34 fuselages and engines sitting in a building I bought as a teen back in the late 80s for around 3 grand and bought my cub for 4 grand ready to fly. Things weren't so ridiculous as they are today. We didn't have internet either driving prices up most things were sold by word of mouth or local papers and mostly sold locally my 2 Sikorsky fuselages and engines have remained in my area since they came back from Vietnam they were bought by a local from a surplus ad posted in a magazine. They showed up to a neighbor on racks in pieces and neighbor and his 3 sons started reassembling them as a father son project and they never finished as the kids started going off in different directions I bought them to turn into a playground for my kids but never got around to and my kids had as much fun in them in the building as they would've outside so they never left building and hopefully when I'm gone my kids will have a payday because I haven't spent a dime on them since I bought them and today I could triple my money just by selling 1 rotor and still have enough to put one fuselage together.

That’s brought back a memory. Early 70s I was in the RAF, serving at RAF Kemble where the Red Arrows and 4 Sqn were based with the Folland Gnats. I recall the fuelling trucks refuelling themselves with the AVTUR used on the aircraft. At the time I didn’t know a diesel engine would run on jet fuel.

Those jets should be pulled out and completely restored and get better higher powered engines. Unfortunately they won’t sound as cool as they would if they had the engines from the Elvis jets as modern turbofan engines just don’t sound as awesome.
