Strange that there are still so many paddle boats from Magilla Gorilla’s Floatillas around the area. That was one of my favourite rides when I was a kid. I remember my dad and I going on that ride quite a few times. I loved floating over the pond and looking down into the water to see all the fishes that were also in that pond. I also remember that it was one of the first original rides to close in the park. Strangely, I remember not realising on my first trip back (after the paddle boats ride had been closed) that they were gone. I remember getting home and thinking “hey, why did I not go on the paddle boats today?”. So I decided that on my next trip to Wonderland that I would definitely make the paddle boats a priority. So on my next trip to Wonderland, when I got to Hanna-Barbera Land, I faced the direction that I knew the paddle boats were (or had) been in. It was then that I saw the area was fenced off and that the Magilla Gorilla sign and the paddle boats were all gone. Then I realised why I had not gone on them during my previous visit, they weren’t there. When I asked a worker at the park, I was told that the pond was now being used as a part of the Australian Wildlife Park (as a bird sanctuary, if I remember what they said correctly). The Australian Wildlife Park opened in 1990, so the paddle boats were probably taken out of the park around that time. That is why it is so surprising to me to still see so many of them in this video. I mean the park was still in operation for another 14 years after this. Have they really been sitting there for almost 30 years? Since the park has been gone for almost 14 years now.

So many memories there went there as often as i could in the late 90s being I was born in 1991 and I got to go on the last day and I stayed there all day and till they closed at night a few news crews were there to announce the closing of tge Park and I with my grandfather and a few others stood in front of the gates in 2004 taking in the last views of it and we watched the staff close the gates to the public for the last time on the last day I shed tears knowing I'd never get to go there to go on the rides and meet all the costume performers I love abandoned videos but when you watch videos like this of an abandoned place that you actually went to when it was open and you have long lasting memories of it and you remember the people you went there with and in your mind hear all the joys that once filled those grounds it brings tears to the eyes Sunway were tge last owners and they didn't care about the park all they wanted was the land it was on and they ran that park into the ground there has been talk going around since 2018 or 2019 that a company wants to bring back wonderland but alot of people doubt it will happen and many know it'll never match up to the original we had back in the day

Yeah Wonderland was the best, i loved The Bushbeast and Space Probe 7, my 2 fave rides. Never went on the Pirate Ship or the Demon (i hate going upside down). My family used to buy yearly passes too, but then my sister got a job with the NSW Police and would come home with 1/4 Price ticket offers every few weekends so i'd organise a few friends to come along and we'd run a muck there. Best times. Actually the best was one Mother's Day we went to Wonderland and the whole park was pretty much empty, just kept going round and round on the rides as nobody was in the que's haha that was the ultimate day there.

I remember going there in the 80's. I was on holiday in Sydney from NZ. It was a great park and they were still developing a lot of it when I was there. I remember the Bounty's Revenge, Ned Kelly's get away, Wizard';s Fury and most of all 'The Bush Beast' Roller coaster which to date is still one of the best coasters I ever went on. - And yes the Snowy River Rampage - which we got saturated on.
@markzed66

The Bush Beast (never a particularly smooth rollercoaster) became a crap ride as it aged due to severe buffeting/shuddering of the cars. I gave up on it after one ride left me with a sore back. Bit of a shame.

So many amazing memories there I lived about 5 mins away and would go quite often to Australia’s Wonderland. Especially $5 After 5pm. To see all what’s left is sad and those small objects like signage and paddle boats brought a lot of memories and happiness for many many people.

Phil, to me it looks like most of that stuff is from the old Hannah Barbera Land section, i believe the boat rides were up there aswell as the Flintstones thing. That said however it seems you walked past a timber piece that looks to me to be from the old Snowy River Rampage ride, and the rubber from the raft to me confirmed it. EDIT: Also the big wheel thing at 11:27 seems to me like its a piece again from Snowy River Rampage.

I remember being out there one day back in the late 80s or early 90s and the snowy river rampage ride had to be closed and drained that day because a kid had fallen out of the raft into the channel and drowned there was a few rides that got closed down and removed because of accidents where people got hurt the funnel web was removed because a kid fell out of it and the ned Kelly's getaway slide was removed too cause lots of people got hurt on that slide and I think the sea urchin was removed cause of someone falling from the ride

If you have a look at Google maps or Google earth. In the top corner of where the park used to be, there are a pair of large water tanks. These artefacts can be seen in satellite imagery of the area. Not very clear but you can still see them. I'm assuming if you drive into the industrial area off wallgrove road, you may be able to gain access through one of the dead end Streets up the back of the industrial park

When did it last operate? No doubt most of the stuff of resale value went years ago. It is still amazing how quickly the site is returning to bush. I am sure many people have fond memories of the place but I remember a hot day in January, long queues for everything, expensive food and nowhere to have a picnic except in the carpark sun.

Went once it was a rip off . It had the biggest wooden rollercoaster in the southern hemisphere spent most of the day on it & the water rapid ride. I remember the line up for each ride. It really was aimed at tourist from overseas making out it was our version of Disneyland which it's certainly was not they had hanna-barbera characters the pirate ship where they would drive off the ship into the water.
